Anyone have any first hand experience of both Rokker and Roadskin jeans please? I’m aware there’s multiple variants of each (and AA vs AAA differences), but I’m looking at Rokker Rokkertech Tapered Slim (AA rated) vs Roadskin Taranis (AAA).

I’ve got a pair of Hood AAA jeans which are great, fantastic quality, build, etc. but are heavy and hot!

Would like a lighter/cooler alternative (aware of safety sacrifice) and can’t see any direct comparisons anywhere.

Thanks.

Can't say that I have great experience in these things, but I did just last week try a pair of the Rokker Rookertech Slim Fit Riding Jeans, and my observations were two-fold: not really slim fitting (very gappy at the top of the backside in particular) and disappointing look and feel, being not very 'jean'-like and more a sort of crossing between jeans and leggings (well disappointed tbh). I've also looked at the vids pushing the Roadskins and from what I see the have the same sort of appearance.

I also tried on John Does, Oxfords, Richas etc, when I came across the PMJ Deux jean. Wow, a motorcycling jean that feels and looks like a jean (bar the weight, obsviously), and for me it was also a great fit (slim but not skinny). It's also a single layer jean (though does contain some mesh lining) and is supposed to be AAA rated though that's almost hard to believe. They are reasonably ok heat wise, but are never going to be like ordinary jeans.

Indeed I was so impressed after my search that I've ordered a second pair, as in my search I haven't come across anything that compares. The armour may need upgrading but that's all. Check them out

Thanks Yofi, not really looked into those but will now. Interesting feedback on the Rokkers, as lots of videos saying they’re the best thing since riding jeans were invented…. That could just be the “chap in the cap” effect….;)

I confess it was the chap in the cap that convinced me to ask my nearest shop to get a pair in to try.

Interesting to note that PMJ make jeans and jeans only. Just to add, the Deux jean are skinny at the bottom, so will not go over boots but sit on top. Possibly there are others in the PMJ range that might otherwise suit (not all are singe layer though). https://www.ukgser.com/community/threads/pmj-deux-rider-jeans.326648/#post-4984067

I have had a pair of Rocker cargo jeans for several years and ridden them in quite a few countries. I travel on aircraft in them (to keep luggage weight down) and whilst they can be bulky they are so useful for immediate access to passport, ticket, Kindle, headphones and so on without having to access the overhead locker.
I came off the bike in Laos (reasonably low speed but I hit a metal bridge support and buggered my left knee a bit - the one a surgeon had replaced not two years before). Whilst my Knox top was ripped and scuffed the jeans were practically unmarked, and very little damage to me personally - a few scrapes but nothing broken or bleeding.
I've probably had them for about ten years and the only reason I would replace them is that they are no longer black but a bit greyed out. Fine for riding a bike but when I'm wearing them to go out for the evening wherever I end up they look a bit scruffy.
I'm off to Thailand next year for another trip around the North and I'll probably take them with me again and then get another pair to wear whilst touring back here (UK) to see if they're as good before I take them on a longer overseas trip.

Good endorsement for Rokker there Richard, thank you.

I've a few pairs of single layer jeans, Rokker, Oxford, Triumph (Rokker) Pando Moto but my favourite and most jean like are Fuel Greasy, but they come up a full size small so for a 36" buy 38" they are probably the cheapest as well

Tried a few pairs of jeans on over the last 4 or 5 years and the only ones that fitted me well and were comfortable were the resurgence voyagers.
They are heavily lined and too hot for Spain even though I wore them as the best option
Now looking for single layer jeans but the Rokkers and a few others don't work for me, rugby players thighs and calves
Going to try the PMJ's via post and also the Roadskin at the NEC later in the year
Roadskin are the same company as Gerbing UK so hopefully they will have a good selection

Wouldn't go for the Deux's then. Possibly the ML Tex Pro ones might be okay? Just to note, some report PMJ waist sizes being a little on the small size, though seemed true to size for me.

Thanks HGS, didn’t know Roadskin were owned by Gerbing. Must admit they do look a good option, especially for £179.

Can’t see past the Roadskin Taranis for the price, apparent quality, many good reviews. Just hope they live up to the hype.

Just to update, it appears that the PMJ deux are in fact the Tex Pros by another name.

I can't vouch for the others but i know Rokkertechs slide well. I had a good old slide from about 50mph the landing was a bit hard but the slide was fine , a scuff on the back but after a wash can hardly tell. One of my gloves came off so they went in the bin.

Cheers for the recommendation Billy. Glad you’re in one piece and the jeans did what they were supposed to (y)

This guy came off in his PMJs and was sent a pair of the Roadskins (they ain't half hot on pushing via blogs!). Interesting to see what he says about the feel and fit vs the PMJs, they seem kinda similar. So as I want a pair of black jeans (can't get them in the PMJ style I like|) I might also take a swing at them.

Yeah seen that vid Yofi and you’re right, I can’t open a web page, Facebook or Instagram without seeing a Roadskin advert. Must have £££ for their marketing budget. That’s my only worry, that they’ve spent all their money on adverts and the product isn’t as good as it should be….

Roadskins ordered, let's see!

They're giving away a pair of free gloves at the mo.

I bought a pair of Roadskin Taranis a few weeks ago, they were offering 20% off at the time.
Worn them about half a dozen times since.
I like them a lot, sizing is accurate, they fit like a pair of stretch Wranglers of the same size, comfort is good, the soft armour stays in place.
Although they fit quite snugly around the lower legs, the stretch fabric allows a pair of Daytona boots to fit comfortably underneath.
It was quite cool out today, they were warm enough, but it was very warm last time out and I found them a bit too warm. Then again, so would a pair of leathers have been as well.
Overall, recommended.

Let us know how you find them Yofi. I went out for a few hours today, wearing my Hood jeans, it was about 24c, god damn you get hot in lined Kevlar jeans. They really are well made, and you feel very well protected, but just so heavy and hot.

Thanks for your review Watty. Good to hear you like them, shame you found them warm, but maybe as you say, if it’s hot out there, wearing anything protective is going to be warm.
