I think were nearly there!!!!!

Had a minor issue with the running but all sorted now.

Cant get the rear indicators to work at the moment. Seat and screen and its there, sounds sweet....

WELL, I THINK WERE ABOUT DONE FOR NOW!

Just had the bashplate vapour blasted, a few coats of paint and its on.

Thought i'd stick a few pics up of the old girl, looks a whole lot better than it did when i got it....

It passed the MOT Friday, the plan is to put 500 mls on it, then have the bars powder coated, a few incidentals sorted etc..

I like it!!!

Great work sir... I've just given my 1150 a service with all oils changed + have just got a new battery + spark plugs to fit.... She's done 92,000 miles and I'm looking forward to hitting 100k.

I really appreciate your work here, thanks for taking the time.

FINISHED?

OK, been a long time since I posted on here but think it's about done now.

I rode it home this week, Thursday night. I did about 15 miles around work at lunchtime to give it a bit of a shakedown and it seemed to run fine! It has now got 100 odd miles up and it ran like a dream on the way home, since then i have done a bit of fettling, clean up here, polish there, and took some pictures today.

I dont think it will win any shows but when i think about how rough it was before it looks a lot better!

Thanks for all the comments and support, :thumby:

Smudge.

p.s. I KNOW IT NEEDS OIL TOPPING UP!!!

Top work fella and an enjoable thread to read.

I'm slowly working my way through mine replacing various worn & rusty bits, reading this has inspired me to crack on with mine

OK, done 700 miles now, had an annoying vibration at 4000 rpm, real filling shaker. Fitted my H&B bars today and found the rear subframe bolts had loosened off during the shakedown i suppose, fitted the bars, tightened them all up and the vibration has gone! Glad really as it worried me slightly, considering what I have done...

So, I did a few miles today and still not happy with the engine. There is an annoying tappet noise from the r/h side. I did the tappets on the 500 service half expecting them to be loose but no. After the ride today I listened to it at idle and the noise is definately camshaft speed on the r/h/s.

Stripped the cam box off, and found the followers like this;

I'll get a couple of new ones, fit them and see how it goes. The cam is sound, plenty of oil there so it can only be these? Looks like they've lost their hardening?

Should have them by wednesday so I'll post up how it went!

Forgot about this!

OK, fitted the new tappets and its as quiet as the proverbial, well, for an 1100 that is!

As someone said a while ago, here's to the next 115,000 miles...

Thanks for all the comments, I have to say ive really enjoyed doing this although its taken a couple of years, very rewarding. I took it round to the guy I bought it from a while back, he was mortified, wouldn't accept it was the same bike!
