hi all im thinking of buying a roof boxer helmet and wondered what any owners of these helmets think of them. would be good to here from you especially if the newer model is worth the extra money?:thumb
:beerjug: everyone ,

Robmack's got one and he hates it

Tuned has one he may pop along and tell you what he thinks

The chin bar ...

... is very close to your face, which not a lot of people like. Now the Roof Roadster is the quietest helmet I've ever owned, but it's open faced and not a lot of people like that either :nenau

I've got one

They're great for summer use but tend to mist up quite badly in damp / cold weather. I was at the bike show yesterday and it appears that the latest boxer has vents on the chinpiece, which may rectify this problem a bit. The stud fastners can sometimes be a little tricky to line up properly, but again, I see that the new one has a different type of fastner. I really like my one, but as I say, it's for summer use only.

No ventilation, and unless you are gail tilsley the chin bar will touch and annoy you. Also fairly fiddly to lock the chinbar, and the rubber straps to lock it are a weakpoint.

got one about two years ago, don't wear it much, for the reasons stated above

ok thanks for that guys very usefull. it was going to be to wear on me holiday to france ect in the summer. need to try one one i suppose. ive got a schubert flip helmet but love riding with open face, trouble is in sh+t scared of scuffing my face if i have a prang:(
need to investigate further:thumb:beerjug:

I used to use it quite a bit but just keep it in my car in UK in case I ride a bike over there.

It's one of the earlier ones and the chin bar is not as close-fitting as the later model.

Good helmet,for what it does.

I've had one for about 7 years and in the summer wear it all the time (I've an Arai and a Suomi for winter). I rarely bring the chin bar down so don't have a misting problem but the poppers can take a bit of getting used to if you do. They do bounce well as this one replaced one that I went down the road, face first with the chin bar down.

It gives the both options as a full face or with the chin bar which no others do.

Pardon my French, but they're shit.

They feel like they'd disintegrate if they fell on the floor, the one I had misted up all the time, the poppers didn't align properly so it was a pain in the butt to 'snap' the chin bar into place and the visor and helmet had a huge gaps between them so water gets in everywhere. Oh, and the paint flaked off and the chin bar pivot screws came loose.

That said, Roof's full face helmets seem pretty good.

The boxer is expensive for a very substandard, and dare I go so far as to say, dangerous helmet.

Trust me. Spend your money elsewhere.

I have a BMW Enduro (which actually costs less) and due to the MX style it's got plenty of room in front of your face to make it nice and cool in the summer.

But then I wouldn't get on a bike without a full-face helmet.

Ever grated a sausage?

having had a roof for 3 years and now a schuberth, you will find

the roof is very loud

it mists like crazy in the rain

you will tend to ride everywhere with it in the open faced position.

i enjoyed the roof but they are overpriced and i wouldnt buy another
