Roof helmets

nice, but very tight fit. It's fine in normal weather, but if it gets warm, there's no ventilation, your head swells (mine does anyway even in the cold :D ) and then the helmet is very tight.

But al in all, nice helmet, great visibility.

I've got the older style (polycarb shell) Roof boxer, bit expensive for what it is/was, the newer EC?? passed roof boxers are fibreglass (or other laminate shells and better quality. However they don't fit me as the chin guard presses hard against my chin, (musthave shrunk in the mould) and I'm not a Jimmy Hill either.. So dont mail order try before you buy...

I quite like mine for summer riding, but I quite like open faced helmets. They aint so good in the rain though, and although mine was pretty quiet to start with, the seal around the visor/chinbar becomes worse with time and the thing gets rather noisy.

I agree with Andy

It took me quite some time to get used to mine but on a trip to the Dolomites it was superb. I road alot of the time with it open and it was fantastic. It does seem to suffer from misting up and is not the best in the rain.

I got mine via Germany for £160 so price was okay and I took the liberty of trying one on in my local shop first for size. (How about that for not supporting your local dealer..!!). I felt guilty but I did by my Cordura jacket from there and my last bike come to think of it.

Have Fun

cheers me dears,
I`m gonna have to do the rounds with the dealers and try some on, seein as I `ve got a head shape akin to frankensteins prototype (before he marketed the completed version).
My main concern is ease of visor change and misting, I use custom ear plugs which cope extraordinarily well with wind noise.

Personally think it is the worst buy I have ever done. They mist up badly in the rain and cold and purely a summer/good weather helmet. I have the roof boxer and took it back to South-Africa where I use it on holidays.

For the same money would rather buy the Caberg Jujitsumo with the sunvisor and some beers with the change.

Would advise to try it before you buy it preferably in bad weather.

cheers

Roof Boxer? Can't really comment, but the full face "Diversion" is the the most quiet lid I've tried to date, good anti-misting properties from the standard visor-though this becomes less effective over time (2 years+) oddly, the Iridium visor I have for it has never been as good as the standard for resisting fogging-but damn it looks good! All round good lid,but drill a hole in £2 coin and mount it on a keyring-as you'll need it to change visors

Mines OK

Fits nice, It's a summer slow speed hat for me.

Not really an everyday hat I think.

Got it in France a lot cheaper a couple of years ago now, at the time it was just over half the price of one here.

G..

U might get a cheap one at NEC ?

i think they look cool, but do try before you buy. I don't have a large chin, but i couldn't get the bleeding thing to shut properly.

they look quite cool with chin bar up (i.e. fastened on the back of the lid) and dark visor down - a bit Tom Cruise in Top Gun :ymca

I've got a Caberg Justissimo flip front. £150 with drop down black visor. It's comfortable, no noisier than any other helmet I've used. I don't know where you are but Wessons in Horam (near Eastbourne) has a good stock of them.

Like 6x I couldn't shut the flip front on the Roof as it hit my chin. I also thought it was poorly made for the price (over £200).

A triumph of form over function imo.

Hope this helps

Cheers

Dick

Also tried the Boxer. I've got a small head (considering I'm 6'2") and tried a medium. Fit great, but the chin guard was pressed right against my chin.
Looks great in yellow with Black visor, but just wasn't comfortable enough to cough up the dough.

If you decide to go for it, the cheapest place I have found is Crossan in Newry. They deliver aswell.
check out http://thevisorshop.com/acatalog/

As soon as they make a roomier version I'll probably buy.
