I know thy are not as smoothy as a 4 cylinder but................

My 1200 GSA is a twat to ride at a steady 30 ... 40 mph
It feels as if it's misfiring but doesn't sound like it

3000 revs in 3rd at 30mph or 4000 in 4th at 40mph

Yesterday I did the first decent run since buying it about a month ago

I will give the dealer a ring and have a chat , but in the meantime any comments

Get it checked out, it doesn't sound right - my twin cam was fine at those revs and speeds.

If 3000rpm gives you 30mph in 3rd, it would give you 40mph at 4000rpm in the same gear - not 4th, pedantic and not a bit of help I know!!

However the only time mine sounded 'off was when I suspected a bad stick coil but discovered a change of plugs rectified the situation. IIRC it was slightly higher up the rev range that I was having issues.
Could it have old/sh1t petrol in it?
Unless of course it's ya clutch!!

Check that the throttle cables are seated correctly in their ...er bits where they seat...

Cut back on the med's man....

My old 2007 single cam used to do exactly that, I fitted a PC3 and it smoothed it out a treat just with the standard map uploaded. My completely stock twin cam doesn't have this problem and runs lovely. If it was an older bike or a single cam I'd say you were a victim of overly-lean running.

+1 on the plugs

My SC did this with a failing coil but it's got to be unlikely on a barely run in newer bike. Check coil leads plugs and as others say the throttle cables. Throttle position sensor could also be out of calibration.

Thanks men

I will have a chat with the dealer

pleased no one has said "they all do that sir"

It will be running insanely lean, they all do!
A reprogram at Hilltop garage is the answer...

Mine will cope with 200 revs in higher gears but its really not happy. Except for the 4500 flat spot, its smooth when wound up .

Throttle body balance gets my vote.
Take it back to the dealer and get it checked

My TC runs just fine at 30mph in 3rd or 40mph in 4th. I'm sure it would run better with a remap but it's not bad as it is. I would get it checked out, throttle body balance and/or coils.
