Rough running finaly sorted.

Yep, use mine in position 7 with decat headers and stock can.....great set up. I also tried the PC5 but got fed up with dodgy wet weather running....the AF Xeid units are better by some margin as they are using the full capability of the bikes brain.

.....and at the risk of getting hate mail I would say it is now at least as good, if not better than my Hilltopped TC I had previously (albeit from an 18 month old memory)....seriously good bit of kit for less than the price of a decent end can.

Heretic :D

It is great to see you guys getting the benefit of richer mixtures by lambda-shifting. This technique uses the full power and fully engineered fueling and spark tables designed by BMW. Then you add just enough fuel to pushe the fueling 6-8% toward Best Power Mixture. The results are usually pretty impressive.

Use Shell V Power

Guys, Try Shell V power, i only use this, if not available BP optimax, Shell V power has hardly any ethanol in and even being the most expensive fuel, you get more performance, more MPG and a cleaner engine, hence the most expensive fuel actually works out to be the cheapest, doing over 20,000 miles a year in my car and about 6000 miles a year on my bike, i swear by it. Even when the bike is left from End November to End march, no starting issues caused by ethanol separating and dropping to bottom of tank. Search on google "Ethanil" ethanol removing kit, bought one and supermarket fuel is the worst you can buy in my opinion. Lower grade fuels with ethanol also cause degrading fuel lines (fire frisk) and damage engine internals when laid up, especially carburettors. V POWER has a high octane rating which means your engine runs at peak performance and is not running too lean with lower octane fuels that increase engine temperatures, can cause pinking or knock sensors to change ecu settings, (usually backs timing off to prevent engine damage). Run the engine on champagne Shell V POWER, it and you deserve it. you will notice the difference, smoother running engine and more performance, :rob :thumby : ...Regards Steve

I agree....I use this stuff whenever I can.

stepper motors

Ive been having terrible trouble with rough and lumpy running from tickover to around 3k,back firing through the throttle bodies occasionally and cutting out on tickover,
did all the usual,
pulled the stepper motors and the tips had worn away the gold coating on one side on the tips, (ill try and take a pic)
I had a low mileage spare set and put them in and it seems to have cured it,
I will know for definate later today when I take it for a long ride:thumby:

I had exactly the same issue some years back with my single cam at about 60k miles. Replaced with second hand kit and cured the problem. I have not heard of anyone else with a similar issue so assumed mine was a one off....be interested to know if you have cured the problem.

No it hasn't,

still sticking around 2k occasionally, give it a hand full from rest and you can choke it up and stall it and get it to spit back through the throttles, progressive throttle no problem though.

Im going to try new throttle bodies, full reset of parameters, then im out of ideas.

Mine sometime backfires on posh petrol but only when its running too rich. Saying that at 60K the steppers are almost certainly worn.

Spent the last week in France using 98ron (which I can't get in Ireland) and I did notice a big increase in burbling and banging.
Mine also has just about 60k on it (100,000kms) is this stepper job going to cost much??

Smart move, Duncan. You'll love what it does to your bike.
I struggle to understand why people still have to have a remap instead. The only person on the forum who has had both, to my knowledge, says he can't tell the difference. The rest of us just think they're brilliant.
To me, going for a remap it's like spending £350 on, say, a seat and then having to let it go with the bike when you sell it. :blast
Oh well, AF XiED units just don't have the same ring when you're telling your mates how necessary a remap was for you.
