Round Ireland Trip (Revisited) 2009

entertaining reading for first thing on mon morning. well done pal. i am sorry i had to work otherwise i'd have joined you and possibly had a more successful attempt than the one ending at limerick hospital.

can't believe you wasted half a can of guinness though

Great report :thumb2

10 years ago my missus and I toured the west coast on pushbikes. One of my abiding memories is deciding to visit Achill island and slogging through driving rain only to find that the campsite was under water. In desperation we looked on the village notice board and found an ad for a B&B where a lovely woman took us in, dried us off and gave us Guinness :)

Lovely people, but a bit of a grim place on a cold wet day when soaked to the skin

Haven't got a garmin but even a list of towns visited would do. Do not worry about it too much if you can not do it. I will still read your interesting posts.:thumb2

That was an excellent post David ,really enjoyed that.I did Achill a couple of years ago and it was the same story wind ,rain and cold however,in hindsight it's all great craic!. What are ye goin to do for the rest of the year now?

Well done David. The roads looked brilliant but the campsites looked miserable... I'd have checked into a B&B and spent the time making up a story about how camping isn't allowed until April or May...

Hoping to do a big run myself next weekend to grab a load of them.

yes - everyone i've spoken to seems to have had the same experience of achill...
no plans for the rest of the year but there'll be something brewing no doubt, assuming the FD gets sorted asap.

wookie - in 2006 we had a meal in the steakhouse in ramelton - remember? there was an american dude wandered in and i spoke with him. i'd met him in ohio two years previous. so random bumping into him in ramelton of all places but i met a good mate of his tonight in portrush. strange...

Fantastic report and amazing stamina, loved the pictures. We have done some of the Rally but only a few at a time. The camping photos are scary, if its not an official site I don't pitch and even to consider a graveyard!!!!! :bow

Hope the bike is better for Kesh.
