"Go west young man" (or not so young man...I dunno:nenau ..)

I'd be tempted to go via Peebles and Lanark for the first part...

Whats the odds eh? Going on past form this year I don't hold out much hope :)

Depends how many Gods you've upset of late...:D

Just to give you hope....just completed a week on the west coast doing the islands...Got wet Once for about 30 minutes on Lewis.....I kid you not, I've got a tan and Mrs CC has sunburn on her nose...

You'll be fine....:hide :augie

Agree with most of what is above Kev, however, the A68 through Jedburgh and up to Edinburgh is covered with speed cameras. Seeing as how you are at Keilder campsite come out from the B63571 onto the B6357 and turn right towards Jedburgh and follow the road till it comes to the junction with the A6088, and turn left towards Bonchester Bridge. (Basically that is the route you have out of Keilder)
On getting to Bonchester Bridge don't take the B6357 to Jedburgh. Continue on the A6088 to Hawick.
Get to Hawick and take the A7 to Edinburgh. With the exception of a camera van at the village of Stow (30mph limit), there are no fixed speed camera's on the A7.
The A68 and the A7 come out at the same big roundabout on the Edinburgh City Bypass, the A720.

If you've managed to get to the Stirling area ahead of time, you may wish to include a wee 'D-Tour' via Aberfoyle...

Take the A821 north out of the Village on the route known as the 'Dukes Pass', brings you out north of Callander where you would have been anyway....a cracker full of twists and turns and great scenery....:thumb

Dukes Pass is a must do Kevin. A fantastic road. :thumb2

Just working out my route for this Fridays trip up to Oonyackistan, and wondering if there any advantages in getting the ferry from Mallaig to Armadale, instead of heading for Kyle of Lochalsh and taking the bridge?

Aye, but the A7 does have a tendency to be a park up spot for the unmarked car of L&B's finest. (DAMHIK)

If you fancy a cuppa after only an hour or so on the road, we 're just off the A68 before Dalkeith.

It's a much nicer road both on and off the little ferry. Plus you get to ride on a tiny ferry, feels more like visiting an island rather than just an extension of the mainland :thumb2

For you the bike and the wee man It's about £14.00 From Mallaig to Armadale
Then you could go back via Kylerhea to Glenelg
Missing out the bridge on both occasions:thumb

Oops, Kaycee, I was talking about the Kylerhea to Glenelg ferry. Sorry if I confused issues :thumb2

Are you getting all this Kev? My eyes are glazing over.

Am I not following you then?

If I lead will you be tail ender and pick up any stragglers?

I'll bring the hi-viz vests :thumb2
