Hi all,

Hope I am not been too cheeky but has anybody got a map source route (original Quest) for a route from Calais to Barca………

2 & half days to get there from Calais

Half day, arrive Calais pm…. ride for about 170/200 miles in France
Day 2, 400 miles
Day 3 Barca

Here’s the thing like to do 50/50 Motorways, Main roads each day. Like I say hope not been too cheeky!

Any help appreciated………

Give us a clue... Which Barca?

How about looking at the route in reverse? That is, how to get past the Pyrenees? Then which motorway through France, and do you want to go around Paris. And have you ever tried going around Paris to the west? It was sh1te when I tried on "N" roads.

I'd try Autoroute to Paris, Periphique (or smoething spelt like it :o ), down to Limoges area, "N" / "D" roads south, Seo d'Urgel, and then almost any road to Barcelona.

Been said before but I'll say it again, any road on a Michelin map with a green snake next to it! :thumb

But to answer your question, no I haven't, but when / if you do get one make sure you split it up into day long chunks.

Alternative route?

Have you got to go from Calais?

Portsmouth to St Malo for instance avoids Paris; all the boring flat bits of Northern France and makes 200 miles less meaning a much more enjoyable pace and more N and D roads. Crossing the Pyrenees via Le Seu D'urgell is a good route (as already suggested) and the routes from there to Barca are very good biking.

more info

The portsmouth-St Malo is also an overnight crossing, and docks in France early in the morning so you get a full day biking, and are nicely rested compared with just having nailed it down from Yorkshire?
