Hi Folks

I bought a set of Rox bar risers for my GSA 1200 - 2006.

They made to fit a bar diameter of 1 1/8, when fitting them I found that the two rear bolts were impossible to tighten to the correct torque because the bar riser and the original handlebar clamp are too close to each other and I cannot get a spanner in the space to tighten.

Has anyone fitted similar and how did you overcome the problem :(

I recently bought/sold a set which gave me the same probs and not helped by the manufacturers not providing destructions for fitment.

I then learnt that they are designed as forward/rearward risers and have to be fitted with this in mind.
Position the risers in the fwd position and insert/screw in the rearmost bolts until you have a small clamping gap , 1-2mm perhaps.
Pull the risers backward to the desired position and fit the front bolts to clamping load.

They cannot be used in a position directly above the existing bars, only fore or aft.

Once the front bolts have bee tightened there is no chance of increasing tension on the rear bolts unless you have a cut down allen key - even then it will tight.

FWIW and IMO, more thought should have gone into the design of these risers.

Rox Risers

Installed a set on my 09. It was tricky getting the bolts tightened, but got it done and love the results. No more shoulder/neck pain after riding 350 miles or more.Just a sore ass.

I fitted a pair recently and adjusted them to the furthest rearward position and had no problem tightening to bolts. FWIW I think they're a great mod and better than the radius risers Nippys sell.

Yeah

Loosened the two front forks and fed the throttle cable and clutch cable to the side closest to the tank, now everything is perfect.:beerjug:

Did any of you guys have to change any cables to use these bar risers ?:rob

No need to change any cables on the 1200 - as mentioned above just reroute and job done. Makes a big difference if you're short armed :D

Change the Allen bolts for normal bolts and then you can use a normal thin headed spanner to tighten the two rear bolts pretty close to the 28 NM that BMW claim they should be.:thumb
