Roy Pidcock dealerships in administration

this is at least the third notification of this! Do keep up.

It's been a very difficult year for the motorcycle industry. Many big companies closing down. Perhaps the market was over inflated and it is the correction that was always coming.

Give them a call at 9am and ask the staff :JB
If nobody picks up the phone, then I guess they were unsuccessful:unsure:
heard yesterday from ex member of staff that somebody is trying to buy the BMW part of the business....

Thanks skid06 for your information,
Hope some one takes them over for the sake of the staff,
I know what it's like when you get made redundant with Xmas around the corner.
Ian.

why would you buy from them? Presume you could just set up from scratch if they've gone tits up?

you could but even if you have your own premises, you could possibly acquire some used bike stock, non bike stock like clothing and accessories and workshop equipment at a bargain price from the administrator.

As already said by others above, maybe a reduction in the amount of dealers will level off & will find its own level, lets hope that the people that are expecting delivery of new bikes actually get them.

The winter period is always the challenging time of the year, if you can’t survive in the summer season, you have no hope in the winter season

You could, the planning of it with BMW, finding premises etc would be a time consuming process…and you’d need to have bloody deep pockets.

I think in the current climate raising finance for a new BMW motorcycle franchised business would be about as easy as climbing Mount Everest in a mankini!!

!!

One of the main issues is having the right premises, BMW have a very strict criteria for appearance, even the floor tiles have to be a certain colour and no mixing of brands under one roof.

Exactly that. As I’ve said elsewhere on here, it’s quickly becoming an untenable business model.

The historical arrogance from a lot of the staff and management at various BMW outlets across the UK probably hasn’t helped either.

The way things are going, there won’t be anyone prepared to put up with that.

We’ll sell your bikes, if you give them to us at the right price.
No?
Well, we’ll sell someone else’s.
Auf wiedersehen.

Pidcocks were dealers for Energica who I understand from this weeks MCN are also in administration. Bad news for the trade

Showroom design and layout has been an automotive given for the last 25 years. Lexus boasted about the 5’s nature of the dealer showrooms. No matter which dealer you visit eg for example , the bogs are on left/ spares right/ service straight on ………

The car trade is a very different animal to the motorcycle trade.
