tools for swing arm ,gaiter ,strech bolts ,final drive gaket (there wasnt one on there ) ,gaiters for the fairing ,and some other bits ive forgotten .
plus ive sprayed the swing arm today ,dont look to bad .
ill post a pic in the next few days ,rubbed down some other bits and got red oxide on there .
You may want to check from a source more technical than me, but certainly on my G/S I have been told that there was never meant to be a gasket on the final drive, and, that putting one on allows the FD to wobble a bit loose. I found this to be true, and removed it, with no problems since.
Not sure about the RT's, in fact I've not checked mine.
Just wanted you to be aware of what I went through although by the look of your posts you're far more technical than I am and probably know better.
i think your right mine doesnt have a gasket, just got to find out which silicone to use ,hopfully rob farmer or kenny will be along shortly to put me right again
heres the swing arm ,not a great picture ,but im pleased with the results. just smoothrite onto bare metal ,about 10-12 thin coats , plus the other bit ready to be rubbed down again then primered and painted
got the bits back from the powder coaters , swing arm back in,should have the back end done soon ,then the fronts got to come off to fit the gaiters ,and fairing gaiters .
then ive got to make a tow hitch /bar ,so i can pull my little bike trailer ,so should all be done by sunday
Go for the RT. you wont regret it. Until you have to take the bastard fairing off to do a simple fucking job that a 4 year old could do with a hammer and a penknife...... if it wasnt for the fucking fairing.
