RT 100 running hot

Just starting to get the old RT up together been in shed for two years .
New petrol ,plugs checked points etc. sluggish to starts runs at 1500 rpm but not below.missfire very hot on left side . anything obvious .Has plenty of oil in rocker cover. Any advise welcome. Richard

Sticky valve RHS? ie not really running at all on that side...................... check compression

Carb jets bunged up with deposits from old fuel, possibly. Clean and clean again or get a rebuid kit.

As above. Idle jet(s) blocked, plus everything else in the carb.

Plus you mention "points"... what year is the bike ?

just checked compression 135 psi Rh cyl 90Lh cyl is this more likely to be a valve issue . If so how much is a valve job roughly.

Probably depends on what is actually wrong and what needs to be replaced and who you want to do it. Best ring steptoe!

IME the simplest valve job soon escalates to new ex valves, new guides + unleaded seats - prolly £350/400 from someone proper.

lead free heads

Were could i get two heads converted to lead free if i have to go down that route .Richard

Often done on an exchange basis. Try Motorworks etc. I think Rob F bought a pair off eBay only the other day, £130. Wanted post on here

Mine are 80 heads that are going to be machined and converted to 1000cc, Oversize valve seats and valves, ported and gas flowed I only bought the 80 heads because theres more meat on them for oversize valves than the earlier 1000cc heads I have knocking about.

It may simply be that the left hand side valve was open for all that time allowing rust onto the valve faces. Have you done a compression check?

check your throttle cables to see if they are seated correctly, out of adjuster sleeve etc.
also choke cables?.
