Rt1200 2005

In rare maroon, all extras, esa, radio / cd, very low mileage 6K, fsh, panniers & top-box, exc cond, personal plate included pics to follow tomorrow. £5500

Looks like an awesome deal. Why only 6k miles in about 8 years? As sacrilegious as that may be, makes for a good 2nd hand buy I reckon. Shame I'm still paying for mine!

RT

Bought bike from this site last year, owner had it from new but worked abrouad a lot, I bought it with 6k on clock and took it to spain and left it there at my partners flat. i just flew in at weekends and we used it locally and for shopping, rode it home end of year and not used since other that to ride to mot which passed no probs,, fully sspecced and really nice bike too. I will put pics on next week.

RT Colour

Now steady on there lets not get into a RT colour war but what about the 2010 polar blue probably the sexiest colour :clap

Sounds very cheap ! One question you brought it with 6k took it to Spain and rode it locally and rode it back home to the UK and it still has 6k !

He doesn't say it has 6k on it now, it had 6k on it when he bought it.

What millage is it now?

If its as good as it sounds, it could be a very good buy, 2005, it might even have the float fuel sender in the tank :thumb2

Unless i need glasses it states low mileage 6k.

I sent a PM expressing my interest. If it is in the condition that you would expect with that mileage then I am ready to do a deal.
Just waiting on some pics.
Incidentally its the enthusiasm of the posts in here regarding the 1200RT and the reports of 60 mpg possible that have won me over.
Anything I should be aware of on that year?
Would the final drive oil have ever been changed as part of servicing?
Cheers.

You will notice the weather protection the most - I did a 250 mile run at minus 4 and the only thing that felt cold were my feet (because I was stupid and only put 1 thin pair of socks on). I was wearing summer gloves too!
My only experience of ownership is a 2012 so can't comment on long term problems, servicing etc - sorry. I think you will like it a lot. I manage 40mpg, but then I leave mine in sport mode for my commute and ride it like a hooligan:D

Don't expect 60 MPG.

In my experience you'll probably get nearer low-mid 50's.

My 2005 was the least reliable bike I've ever owned, fuel pump thingy packed up, ABS servo went, ESA died.
But don't let that put you off, I reckon I was just unlucky.

The fact that I kept it for 4 years and went and bought another, despite all the problems, will give you a hint as to just how brilliant I think they are.

Might be changing mine in 18 months and, unless Honda release an all new Pan, really don't imagine anything else will come close.

If you can afford it, buy it, enjoy it and get used to having an aching face from all of the smiles.:thumb2

Just about to head out on my 'Touring bike' now.

Not heading to France or Spain or Russia, even though 'that's what they're built for'. Just going for a spin around the Lincolnshire Wolds. Why? Because the bike's a joy to ride.

Hi

Hi Gordon (original owner and really nice fellow)

You'll be in time for the LC version - I personally think that will be a pleasure to behold! Imagine the RT with a bit more engine!!

Good post, that Tim. On the contrary my 05' RT was very reliable (aside from the ring antenna fault). Such a great bike. As I recall I managed high 50's MPG wise.

I'm seriously thinking the RT is where this new engine will be at :thumby:
