I just know the Tyre question has come up about brand and model but what about width, I think the std tyre is a 150, but it just does not look right to me and feel the tyre has not a big enough contact area, Has anyone tried a wider tyre on the std alloy wheel

Stick with the standard size.
They work well enough as standard.

Synesthesias are rarely a good way to judge the correct size of rubber for your bike. BMW engineers, on the other hand are rather good at choosing rubber in a size which strikes the best balance of steering, handling and roadholding characteristics.

Or, in other words, stick to the OE size. I you do manage to squeeze a wider tyre on the wheel, it might look more "butch" but it's more than likely to slow down the bikes steering and upset its very sweet handling nature.

Most of us mortals can't get to the limit on the roads on a GS.

If you can regularly, then maybe a GS isn't for you and riding on the roads ........

I'm just asking, as I'm not sure when it comes to the bendy bits if the OEM rubber is big enough, But if nobody else has a problem it might just be me getting a bit of confidence with the rubber on hand, a few more miles around some bends then.

Perhaps I'm just doing it wrong,The long to Spain this year was very long and not very bendy and most of my miles this year have been motorway miles so I'll have to get onto the A and B roads and get a few more bends under my belt,Im sure I will not be worring the capabilities of the GS anytime soon.

the GS/GSA handles incredibly on OEM rubber. You can lean till everything is grinding - usually the centre stand on the left and the peg on the right side.

I fitted a 160/60x17 on the rear. It gives more rubber on the road when you lean over.

I took the standard 150/70 off the edge while cornering. Not a very nice experience

The 160/60 feels OK, and doesn't slow the steering down that I've noticed.

I can now scrape the stands on both sides AND have unused rubber left

Actually, I think it was Viscount Coke's highway , but it was on the road.

No hero. Just going too fast . Mind you, I did have a GSXR 1000 up me chuff. He soon backed off
