Rugged T - 7 INCH RUGGED TABLET T7R - A possible smaller nav tablet and a possible alternative to the Carpe Iter

It arrived a couple of days ago. It came with RAM mount, charger with UK plug, instructions, and the mount. I wasn’t sure about the mount but it was cheap enough to give it a try.
The mount fitted onto my amps block so pretty easy to fit. I have an account with locus maps to just logged in and loaded my maps. All good. Bad news is I paid £73.00 duty. The delivered price on just the tablet would have been £326 + duty at £62 ish.

Remind me again,

What was the reason for purchasing
This unit specifically??

Would you be able to give a review of the tablet, I'm also looking into this exact unit. Very interested in learning about display visibility in sunlight and the version of Android it shipped with.

Thanks in advance.

I’ve been on a few trips using the tablet and the brightness is good, it’s 1000nits. You can check the rating in the Rugged T spec and compare with other “nav” tablets. My unit was shipped with Android 11, they may have moved on by now. To find out just email them directly for confirmation. I’m pretty sure this is the same tablet as used by carpe iter. However the ruggedT tablet does not have the m8 power connection. Only USB and pins on the back. Overall it is a very solid bit of kit that will take a knock or two. Also check out the carrier, it’s really solid, the only bad this is it rattles like F**88 if the nav unit isn’t fitted. [email protected]

Thanks for the update, ive received a quote from them and they only mention Android 10 as the OS. I've queried them again on that. I take it that you have what they call the "short mount"? I'm most likely going to pull the trigger on this as the size is exactly what I'm after. Thanks again.

Further to this, they will supply the unit with Android 13.0 on request. Going to order and will report back on how it all works out.

Wondering what charging solution you use with this tablet?

Type c usb, keeps it 100% charged all day. I haven’t had any issues with water entering the port, but if it was pissing down for an extended period of time, I would disconnect the lead and seal the port with the cover. I reckon the battery would run GPS for 4 - 5 hours.
