Rukka Arma S worth the money

Take the liners out of the jacket and trousers, from new. Never ever use them. Put them in a bag and sell them on when you sell the suit. The new owner will love you.

The 'rubber' zips are fine, unless you are a chimp. Many are.

Trust me on all of the above.

PS Lovin' the post above. Old stock being off loaded to bikermate as a bargain at the NEC. Whoever would have guessed? There again, maybe his mate was pulling his chain? You know: Earnestlook on face, rubbing of chin, a bit of teeth sucking and, "Mate, I don't know how to tell you this but...."

In one :thumb

:D

Recently purchased an arma-s suit to replace hein gericke master cut off me in car/bike interface. Didnt find it took too long to break in, yes it is heavy but don't really notice now. Found it totally waterproof, as for the ventilation when global warming arrives in Scotland then I'll worry about it.

I bought Cepi which fits to trousers and gives larger back and also chest protector too.

Would I recommend one, yes. Also as arma-s is no longer in Rukka range M&P had them reduced to £750.

I am sure other's will tell you of bad experience's, which are valid for them.

Just contemplating buying a Navigator. Seems to one with the best ventilation, though concerned it would get too hot in the British summer. Does anyone have a Navigator and can advise.
I currently have a Dainese Explorer and not too happy with, rides up too much when the vents are open, I must look like the Michelin man, and the zips are utter crap.

Never ever used the linings in the pants ...pair of thermal long johns quite sufficient even in -5 degrees :rob

Never found the rubber zip a problem ... came apart a couple of times but I clearly hadn't fastened it correctly. I love it :thumb

:beerjug:

Oh I knew how to fasten it ok as confirmed with shop. It appears problems occurred if riders didn't have washboard stomachs if you get my drift :)

Ha ha .... I get your drift Deer Stalker :thumb

I certainly don't have a 'washboard stomach' .... but I still don't have a problem with the fastener :D

So bit the bullet and ordered my Rukka Suit from moto legends , who by the way are great :thumb2 slowly going to build up touring gear in readiness for next year boots then gloves next :beerjug: for all the advice

...nobody.....and I mean absolutely nobody, that I've talked to in person had a bad word to say about them.

It's my experience that lads will often be reluctant to be honest when critiquing something the've spent a lot on. They'll excuse a failing and big-up the strong points.

For me, the cost of an Arma-S would have me expecting a jacket with absolutely nothing to criticise - nothing. Any flaw or shortcoming at all - whether design, fit, materials, efficacy, durability - would see me rejecting it and getting refunded quickrapid, and I'd be utterly intolerant of any attempt to excuse the flaw; it costs the guts of one thousand euro for fuck's sake!

I truly don't care if it is £100 or £10,000 it has to work as designed and be fit for purpose. If, I had any issue's with my suit I would be happy to say so.

Everything is subjective and if you've just spent a shed load of money, which therefore makes you question your judgement then you maybe a tad more critical.

I would never suggest to anyone that product A is good when it is not, and I prefer to think that all kind souls inhabiting this lovely website are the same.

Right then:

My Armaxion is currently in Finland because a large proportion of the reflective pixels on the arms and back fell off after being washed and tumble dried as per the manufacturers instructions. The dealer gave me a loan jacket (which was nice) but unfortunately it's not a Pro Laminate jacket so I'm now fucking freezing me tits off when I go out on the bike

Have I learnt anything? .... Yes, Don't send a Rukka back for repair in the winter months

I miss my Armaxion and want it back asap :D

So did you buy Armas or Armaxion ?

I purchased the arma s jacket and trousers £1200 and it's arrived already in the post ..... can't try it at the minute but tried it on and its an excellent fit and quality seems to be far superior than anything i have ever had ...........hoping it keeps me warm and dry , no excuses not to ride now :beerjug:

Hang on to your receipt just in case you need to claim under the 5yr warranty. My old style Armax turned a grey colour over several summers - something to do with a coating that is supposed to reflect heat and keep the jacket cool - so I returned it to Infinity Farnborough when it was 4 yrs and 10 months old. Infinity were very helpful, spoke to Rukka UK and got the jacket replaced with the current design (the one with the Gore zip - a solution to a non-existent problem IMHO...). Rukka kit is expensive but it is very effective and should last 10+ years. Amortize the purchase cost over this sort of time period and it becomes much better value :rob

When you register it on transam website it extendeds warranty to 6 years.

I bought cepi which zips to trousers and gives you full D3O back protector and chest protector. Cost is £170.

Just enjoy your new kit

So having now got the suit:thumb2 , how good is it and what do people wear underneath in these colder climates base layer and a t-shirt or something more substantial :beerjug:

The original Rukka kit was great but the later stuff is pretty dreadful.

Cosmic jacket - every zip failed. Cosmic trousers leak at leg and hip zip. Navigator leaking at stomach area.

Quality has suffered since the manufacturing was changed. Looking at Klim these days as a better alternative.

As stated at the start ... sit down and read the recent threads. My Rukka kit is 6 years old now, I have the Armas jacket and trousers, commuted from Worthing to Central London most days and done some Scotland and Wales weather too ... never let me down in any way shape or form .... I WILL replace it all soon as its getting a bit shabby and it will all be Rukka kit again .. made in China or not I couldn't give a hoot.

Rukka colour choice

My contribution would be...don't buy anything with the bright green/yellow fluoro coloured panels. I bought an Armas suit secondhand off ebay and I have been very pleased with it in general (2-3 years now), but it has those bright sections on the jacket and they get dirty and look like shite. There's no effective way to clean an oil stain off them, or even more general road dirt off completely.
I would certainly buy again, if I was feeling flush enough at the time, but I'd go for black. No question. As someone said above, for the money you'd expect them to last years and they aren't going to stay pristine for that long.
I've had no problems with the Gore closure, either, provided I remember to close the clip and press-stud flap at the bottom. Otherwise, it can come apart from there upwards. No problem fixing it afterwards. Slides much easier when lubricated with the pen thing.

Rukka

Wappings comments are correct.

Zip only goes wrong when user gets it wrong.

Swear by my Armas suit, great piece of kit. But too hot in the summer.

No idea if quality is different since move to china.

Paddy.
