Have an Arma S but there's conflicting instructions about tumble drying. The garment instructions says don't tumble dry but the Rukka website says it's ok. Anyone know which is right? I've seen many threads where tumble drying's been used but can it adversely affect the jacket if the instructions say not to. Totally :confused::confused:

I also want to reproof it as the jacket's wetting out. Rukka recommend Storm reproofer. Anyobe tried this stuff & if so is it any good?

Kev,

I'm just at the point of buying an Armas suit, but I'm a bit suprised by your comment about it wetting out??
I thought that was the whole plus of the pro-shell gore tex was that it didn't wet out?

If its a case of the outer shell is only treated with a water repellant, what ( apart from the price  ) makes the armas any better than any other £600-ish gore tex jacket?
Even more confused now??

Even Gore-Tex Pro Shell will suffer from some wetting out of the face fabric if it's exposed long enough to a torrential downpour. Not so much on the Armacor parts perhaps but both that and the Cordura are bonded to the Gore-Tex membrane, so although water shouldn't, in theory, be able to penetrate past the face fabric, that in itself is still going to get wet after prolonged exposure. I know that if I'm out long enough in a downpour in my Pro Shell suit, the Cordura portions of the face fabric will retain moisture.

I'd be inclined to tumble dry on a low heat after washing. Either that or iron on a low heat. Both of these should work to reset the DWR coating on the face fabric.

Usual disclaimers apply....:augie

Clean it with no detergent. Dry it in the tumble drier low heat. No problem with Armacor.

Yeah it's wetting out but it doesn't leak. Getting the Storm repellent stuff tomorrow and will wash & tumble dry so will let you know the result. What makes it a good bit of kit though Poucher is the fit, the look, the comfort, a 5 year guarantee and the fact that it simply doesn't let the water in - even if it is wetting out. Far better than the last bit of gortex kit I had - the Streetguard 2.

If the garment instructions say dont tumble dry then IMHO I wouldnt, washed my HG goretex kit recently and just put it on hangers above a radiator, was dry within a day. Why compromise your 5yr guarantee on the Rukka:rob

I've used Storm on my 'ordinary' Rukka quite a few times, I'm happy with it, jacket still hasn't leaked in 7-8 years :thumb2

If it says on the jacket 'Do not tumble dry' I wouldn't think about questioning it, if it leaked=warranty void, simples :thumb

I always let my Rukka gear drip dry and wash it with Nikwax stuff.
