i was trying on some rukka kit at the weekend to replace my leaky HG gore-tex [alledgedly  ] suit.

what's the feelings of any of you lot who already own rukka stuff?

not that comfortable i thought, at least when new. feels like it's made of cardboard.

looks very substantial in an off though.

Just treated myself to an Armacor suit a couple of months back. £1100 so a lot of cash, but under guaranteed for 5yrs, which seems bloody good and was the selling point for me.

So far I've found it to offer similar thermal properties to leather when worn without the internal liner. Hasn't been cold enough to put the insulation in yet.

Was uncomfortable for the first few weeks, as the armour flexed to my shape.

Been in a few torrential downpoors and have come out absolutely bone dry.

Pockets and fasterners all seem top quality.

First fabric suit I've owned for years, so cannot really give a comparison with other kit.

Bought an A-Tech jacket and trousers in December last year. They've kept me dry and warm in a few torrential downpours and were comfortable from the beginning.

Never had fabric stuff before, but I am very impressed so far.

If you want to save money buy from Germany - I saved a few hundred pounds! (www.louis.de)

I bought a Rukka suit and was bitterly disappointed with it. It leaked and was cold. My old £89 Buffalo jacket was a better jacket.

The only thing I liked about the Rukka was it was comfortable and seemed well stitched togther.

Everyone else seems to like them though?

They've got a 5 year guarantee, you can take them back and they'll sort it out. Mine's never leaked but sometimes the water forces it's way up under the front of the jacket slightly when I've not put it on tightly enough. The other thing is, in heavy rain I always feel like they've leaked (possibly a goretex thing). When you check though (or take the gear off) it's still completely dry.

Oh yes, very impressed with my Rukka kit. warm in winter, cool (ish) in summer and waterproof at all times. Not cheap, but like unhinged says, there's a 5 year guarantee and they seem good folks to deal with. They originally sent me The Wrong Trousers, Grommit, but replaced 'em within 3 days and a nice grovelling note of apology came too.

I've had my RVP Rukka Goretex suit for 10 years now and over 100,000 miles and I've washed it, worn it and worn it and it's virtually as good as new (barring a couple of the handles breaking on the YKK zips - on the armour pockets only.............so no big deal and once they're shut........that's it and you can re-open with a paperclip)

It's never leaked and has been relatively warm and superb...........however I've superceeded to BMW Gear now for my main kit as their Armacor in Streetguard is cheaper and generally the BMW gear is now far better than it was 10 years ago and Rukka was the only choice then.

However I still wear the Rukka on the Dakar for local use and will last another 10 years

If you can afford and justify Rukka..............go for it you won't be disappointed

Just remembered the zip on my right outer pocket's bust and outside the 5 year warranty. Normal wear and tear though really.

Rukka

Got a suit gor xmas last year
Great far better than anything I have had before
Snug a s a bug

interesting opinions. most for, one against but could invoke warranty.

i'm still considering....

Cookie...it's damn good stuff...I only went to a BWM streetguard suit from my Rukka armorthingy jacket because I took the Rukka down the road at 60 one day......the armour did its job splendidly, but the abrasion wore through a patch on the arm and ripped a zip out....not bad for that sort of treatment though..I wopuld certainly trust another Rukka if it came to it.

The BWM kit is nicer, fits better (for me anyway) but the streetguard suit has bugger all in the way of pocketry......(well, ok, it has one or two but it's still a PITA).

I haven't yet chucked myself down the road in the streetguard, but it feels as well made as the Rukka ...less coarse in tecture but still tough.

Here's another option for you though....If you're seriously considering paying Rukka prices, why not look at an aerostich Roadcrafter???

With exchange rates being so good, it's an attractive price.....

I've still got my Rukka and BWM kit, but I always reach for the 'stich now...it's by far the best riding kit I've ever owned for all sorts of reasons.

i've considered the aerostitch roadcrafter, but i think it's not getting the nod because i can't try it on & it's a month odd for delivery.

i also think that a two piece like the rukka will be better protection than a one piece in a crash. i suspect a body will rotate somewhat in the roadcraft & armour will move. i may well be wrong, but i can't try one on to find out :nenau
the rukka certainly felt very well sorted in the armour department.

i'm going for another try on today of the rukka as dealer has some more sizes in.

also, i think mrs cookie's going to buy a roadcrafter & we don't want the howard & hilda look :)

trouble is, i really like the aerostitch babygro idea & want one as well.

I assume the BMW gear is designed for the "fuller figure":D :D :D

Oi.....that's 'proper man sized figure'

Cheekymonkey:rolleyes: :D

Cookie.......you're welcome to try mine on.....I suspect that the size would be a tad large and the length too great, but it'll give you an idea of the feel of it.

Give Nadeem a shout....he's just ordered one after trying mine on and answering a load of made-to measure type questions from Aerostich.

It's worth it, honestly ;)

Rukka RVP Pro

Been using this now for about 6 months, early days yet but I really like it.

Does what it says on the tin so far, very comfortable, going to wear it round Europe shortly so we'll see how it goes.

Got mine for just a tad over £300 so it feels like value for money too.

I've used Rukka for years and wear it every day for work. Now on my 3rd suit. Comfortable, waterproof, crashes well (and repairable afterwards) and very comfortable soft armour. The latest suit (Airflow) is even cool in hot weather, as the outer layer lets air flow through (surprise). When it's cold/wet there is a lining to be added that does that bit. My previous suit was an RVP Pro - I still have the jacket - and that was/is great.

I can't comment on other brands as a comparison because I'm so happy with Rukka I've not bothered to try anything else.

Got a pair of Rukka trousers discounted by £150 at the NEC.

Very impressed so far and hope to complete the suit with a jacket at the Bike show if theres any offers to be had.
