Rumors for 2019...!

With that amount of power it may tempt XR owners back.

I had heard the RT will be the first model to see the new engine followed closely by GS

I wouldn’t say no to more low and mid range grunt so I can be even lazier about shifting

Not unless BMW change the way they release models, the RT is normally a year after along with the GSA. So GS will be the first to have the new engine. That was also the view of some BMW sales folk I met at a show last weekend.

Word is the bike itself stays the same like back in the days when the updated for 2008 got the twin-cam dohc powerplant in 2010...But finally after 6 long years more power to make it worth of the upgrade to water-cooling !
From 110 to 125 hp was really not enough to make a real difference.
More power and torque will finally give the bike the excitement itneeds. No need to fiffle with a chain or or contional fork like on a S1000XR which otherwise is a great bike...can't wait ! As for reliability I would not be too worried as the gearbox got already stronger shafts and different bearings in 2017.The new dual cam-lobe heads on the intake are already proven and an old head in cars from VW/Audi or BMW itself.Maybe we see small changes as GPS integrated gauges or lit up switches but who cares as long as we FINALLY get more POWER and TORQUE :thumb2
So exited to finally get a powerful boxer ! Not over the top S1000RR powerful but at least enough to be content on the road for years to come...:beerjug:

Your posts read like a press release.
So pleased that your dream bike will finally fulfil your ambitions......

An R 1300 S Sport (touring) Boxer would be great,too.148 hp/220 kilos wet would be realistic and fun.But to be honest I get too old for that missonary position and would take an R-XR over it.
But 20 minute stints on the S1000RR on track-days are still good to go...:D
The S-RR will be coming new.too.90% of HP4 Race performance for 30% of the cost...:thumb2
Exiting times if you are a BMW man !

Go on then...do it and prove me wrong..

Rode an 18 demo gsa with everything loaded on it today

Sadly didn't do for me - too sanitised, like a car without a roof
ESA was harsh and choppy on back roads in all settings
Gearbox was just as bad as a 13 WC bike that I rode 5 years ago - lurches forward at lights putting it into 1st, same as it ever did - crashes up through the gears and only way to cure it is use the gear assist

Tried it on some familiar roads and it was disappointing

Took a R9T Urban out and that was a lovely motorcycle - engine was way smoother and quieter and delivered the power well
Pity the suspension is budget - but I guess that is easily fixed

What did you think of the riding position of the Urban JB compared to a GS ? I love my CT for the riding position , comfort , engine and DCT but it's a bit of a heavy bus. I fancy an AT Adv with DCT but ther are too much money , the URban I can find a used one for around £9k or less, but I have a felled left knee so I might struggle going back to a Manual , my 3rd choice the V85 isn't out for ages yet .

My GSA TB is better than the AT DCT but the DCT is better than the GSAP and my LMNOP is not as good as my XYZ

Long stretch to bars for me at 6'2
Needs bar risers - up and back as a minimum
I'd need 2" up and 2" back
Needs a deeper padded seat and I thought BMW do one (ask Twizz)

Pegs are high but soon got used to it
Quite a nice old school style bike with a modern twist

Urban seat is 850 mm as is the “high” seat on the Scrambler..SW Motech do a peg lowering kit at 25mm adjustment...

TBH I love my Scrambler - only faults are the suspension is a bit cheap and it makes my cock and balls go numb after 50 miles...
