Even BMW say thrash the things these days, well sort of.

0-120 miles max 5500 revs

120-240 miles max 6500 revs

360-480 miles max 7500 revs

480-600 milesmax revs in short bursts

been doing it that way for years:mmmm

In the Manual the running in process only goes up to 900 KM 562.5 Miles so before it has its 1st service yer done, then ya can start to slow down a bit:D

Mine's in for its 1st this Wed.

Best regards Stretch:)
PS never had so much fun running a Bike in;)

Hi,I have broken all my previous new bikes ( gpz500 , zzr600, zzr 1200) using the method , or something close to it, on the link below with absolutely no ill affects and reliablity problems in 45000 miles. I have put on 4000 mls on my 09 gs after running it in using this method and have not had to top the oil up at all, and it runs as sweet as a nut. My brother in law is a copper and tells me police vehicles use a similar technique for the running in period. Some people might not be comfortable running in their pride and joy like this but its worth a look , check out the link.

I have always used this method or similar on all my bikes since the 1970's.
I just ride like normal, but try to avoid long M/way runs....The 'B' roads are much more fun anyway.:thumb

Ran mine in by going straight to the B roads, plenty of firm but not harsh acceleration and importantly deceleration,up and down the gearbox,up and down plenty of hills and very careful not to labour the engine.
First service at 640mls,now 3400mls and has used very little oil, certainly not enough to need topping up and runs very sweet, although I was used to an 1150;)
