I recall reading on this site about a month ago a link to another website (US one i think) , of all the technical bits of running in a new engine, I have done searches for an hour and can't find it!, if anyone could point me in the right direction, that would be much appreciated.

Cheers

Just rev it freely.............up to about 4-4500rpm, but whatever you do.................DO NOT LABOUR the engine in a high gear

That's the worse thing you can do

Better to spin the motor freely

Other than that...............ride it like you stole it

Don't nanny the bloody thing.............you'll be buying shares in Exxon-Mobil with the amount of oil it'll sup, if you nanny the motor

Thanks very much for that info, I have had my first service and I basically done the same, defo never laboured it, I just wanted to read that article again, to better understand the technicalities of it.

Absolutley love my 1200GS, best bike I have had, and that is after 20 bikes, including the 2 last Boxer cups (which were also great, but too small and tank range not so good)

I am moving to Portugal in July, and have taken my GS off the consingnment for the removal wagon, as the ride down there is going to be great!

Once again, cheers for the info!
