Running in service

It's a shame the motorrad dept of BMW don't go down the same route as their cars. When I bought my MINI Cooper S last year I paid £150 for the TLC package, this gives you vouchers for all scheduled services for 5 years or 60,000 miles. Absolute bargain, saying that it's pretty much oil changes and a brake fluid change or 2. Still it's good value IMHO.

Did you read the link to the service schedules for the R1200GS Steve?

It's all very basic stuff except for the brake fluid change on ABS models and reading the fault codes.

Puk,

Looks like a bit of a cash cow for them. Bikes are so much more emotional than cars, most of us are obsessive about the well being of out bikes. I really can't get emotional about my car, to me it's just a cage.

Thanks to you all for your input, I've been back in contact with the service department and it seems that there was no labour charge about 5 years ago on the first service but this does not apply now.

Both of the above seem pricey to me. The Labour element should be free if done by the supplying Dealer. That leaves Engine Oil, Final Drive Oil, Oil Filter and a couple of Seals. My bill was £64.66 and about £29 of that was for the Final Drive Oil. Mill BMW (now Cooper) Bolden, Sunderland.

Just had my annual check as well as the 6k service done at the same place on monday and the bill was £111.81

I paid more that that having my Honda serviced.

Yeah, I did not question it at the time as £170 does not really seem very much for a couple of hours work, and parts, I just wonder, had I asked, if I could have got free labour. I'm not going to ask now, though, especially as they gave me about £3,000 better trade in than my local dealer was offering when I bought from them.

One way to look at it is that there is no way that I would be happy working for the hourly rate that I was just charged...

I just checked mine and it was £171

Was labour supposed to be FOC on a new bike???

Just test rode a KTM adventure, I was told first service is £250
very nice though, it has thrown a spanner in the works I was set on a 12 GS
now I am not so sure,
They a both so different to ride HELP.

Hi i have just purchased a new gs from Rainbow, (Rotherham )and as part of my deal they are meeting me half way with the costs on first service, too which i say great.Get your selfs down to Rainbow ASAP

FFS, you`ve bought a 10k plus motorcycle and are worried about a service bill:eek:

Get out a and ride the feckin thing. The smiles per miles more than make up for a bill.

By the way, be prepared for more bills every 6k at between £200 and £250 a pop.:augie
