Hi all, just got the bike back together after a major stripdown to fix the 'common fault' oil seal on the gearbox. After finishing bolting everything back on the bike is now a 600 rather than a 1200. Its only running on the left hand cylinder. I have removed the spark plug and I am getting a good spark, removed the injector and i am getting fuel, it seems to have compression (tho not tested) but it still will not fire.
Apart from a gallon of petrol and a match has anyone got an idea of what the problem may be??? I guess it will be bmw's way of saying no home maintenance allowed. Ps the bike has only done 13000 miles since new in 2004 the guy who had it before me used it only as a toy....

Any help appreciated greatly

TPS?

Harder to knock them out of place on the 12 than the 11xx bikes, but that would do it.

I have no idea if the procedure for testing the TPS on a 12 is the same as on an 11, or what the readings should be between, but kicking the TPS out of place on an 11 will produce exactly these symptoms.

Good luck :thumb2

Hmm TPS is only on the left hand throttle body so I guess its not that???
Correct me if Im wrong?? when twisting the throttle both throttle bodys are moving (I can feel the flap turning on the right hand TB its behind the TB and close to the engine....

THanks for the reply though.

It is, but it sets it up on the left to match the right.......so if it's knocked out of place, the motronics could think that one side is fully open and the other side fully closed, and act accordingly.

Thanks for the replies, the spark plug is firing wih no problems, will check rep rom to see how to set tps though I can't see how Ive affected it???

Ho hum I hate electrical faults its why I got rid of my Blackbird...and bougt the gs....Doh...

Try pinging the throttle quadrants on the inside to make sure that each of them is closing fully against the throttle stops??

If not the throttle cable could be caught on the edge of their holders and hold the throttle too far open and be too weak a mixture

Whoo hoo sorted it :bounce1:), it was the throttle cable out of its seat on the connector box by the airbox (sorry don;t know the tech term). Tank off and started going through stuff checking connectors etc then noticed cable not seated correctly. Not sure why this stopped the cylinder firing??? but now it is.

THanks for all the suggestions from you guys, when things go wrong and your stuck in the garage its easy to miss something obvious..
Just got to MOT and tax it now....

Cheers dudes:beerjug:

Moted and taxed today so the 12 is back on the road. So happy I ripped the shocks off my ZRX1100 and posted them to MCT.
