Still adapting to the mechanics of my 02 GSA.Since purchase several weeks ago I have changed the oil, air(K&N) filters plus the spark plugs. Today I checked the plugs and found them to be quite black. Informed that it may be due to the bike " running rich". Is this the case? If so can it be adjusted by myself.

Normally the motronic will adjust to any changes you make but if it's worrying you do a search on 'motronic reset' and follow the steps shown. It's a simple procedure . It's a bit like rebooting your pc to start from a blank sheet again. The motronic restarts and sort of checks itself and memorizes all the new settings .

Enjoy the bike and get used to it ,resit the temptation to fiddle as long as possible, its advise i would have done well to follow when i got my Adventure.
If you are really interested do a search on running 'weak' and 'rich' if that doesnt put you off nothing will
Enjoy it !

sounds like you checked the plugs after idling a cold engine.

try it after a longish ride.

if you want to do it properly, do 90+ up the local bypass, whip in the clutch, turn off the ignition & coast to a stop.

If your bike is running rich, there is a simple remedy which does not involve getting your hands dirty.
Dilute your petrol using 1 pint of distilled water per gallon of fuel. If you like, you can convert it to metric and get the same result.
Glad to be of some assistance.
