Running rough when cold

That sounds shocking mate
I wonder if disconnecting an injector would take the pressure off that cylinder and change the noise, would leave a fault code behind but might go some way to confirming piston slap

That Dear sir is the $60,000 question and I have no definitive answer for you.

IF it was me doing the fix I think I would be looking at a pair of cylinders and a pair of matched pistons so a bit of scoring wont really matter

I think Ride it! Get it warm as quick as possible! But Keep an Ear out for an increase in either time for the noise to disappear or the noise becoming drastically louder

So maybe ....Helmet on, Turn Key, Gloves on, Get comfortable press starter and get away sharpish from now on??

The big question is how much damage is this going to do and how much will it cost to fix? Can I ride away at it and worry about it in a few months or does it need looked at right away?

Cheers jay I think that's exactly what I will do, thanks and I sent you a text about returning your coils

How about it being clutch rattle? Does noise change when clutch lever pulled?

BTW get fully geared up including gloves start and ride. Then it's ticking over for almost no time.

Hi Bendy

when I pull the clutch in there is a different rattle that goes away lol, my friend from work who builds classic bmw's and Triumphs etc came round last night and held a long screwdriver onto each head and listened to the noise through the driver  I thought 'big Jim has finally lost the plot' but he is 6'7 and 22 stone so I thought I had better not say anything, his opinion is a small amount of piston slap but not to worry to much at the minute and do what everyone has told me on here as well and get the gear on start the bugger and go, stop over thinking things and enjoy the bike, so that's the plan for now

Thanks everyone for the advice
Pete
