I have changed the battery on my 2011GS yesterday and since then its running weird. I know that you should do that Throttle -open- close- open- close business right after changing it with the ignition on and I did it.

So right now when idle it won't keep steady revs and after releasing the throttle there is a 1-2 sec delay before anything happens. Also, I have filled it out with petrol this morning but it seems like fuel gauge is stuck at all(full) bars? (I've done around 70 miles so it should go down a bit unless it running on fresh air now)

Any ideas?

Thanks

Any ideas..... not really but disconnecting the battery (earth) for a few minutes before reconnecting it might help flush any electrical gremlins from the Canbus juice.

Is the battery good? ie close to 12volts at rest, close to 14v with engine running. Connections all clean good and tight?

Petrol.... I would say my gauge never moved for way more than 70miles. Is the range countdown going down at all?

The throttle thing? Never come across that before. I disconnected my battery dozens of times and never did that.

I hope it’s just something simple. Good luck

Not far from the battery is the little box where the throttle cable from the handle bar goes in and two cables (one on each side of the engine obviously comes out). You might accidentially have moved one of those latter cable ends out of position.

The battery is good and all connections are in good condition.

As for throttle thing that's something that I have found n Haynes manual.

I found exactly the same problem on other forum (https://www.r1200gs.info/threads/computer-issue-after-battery-replacement.38066/) and it fixed itself after a while. Well, I've been riding mine all week and its still the same (minus fuel gauge issue, that has worked itself out). So I am just wondering if any of you had the same issue?

I've also heard of the throttle thing and routinely do the open / close full throttle thing prior when I disconnect and reconnect the battery (which I always do in between use as I have no power in my garage and might not use the bike for a month+ in between use). The fuel gauge (fuel strip) is a well documented problem on the 2004-2012 GS which I read about here. Never had any probs on my 2004 GS for 7+ years and then had mine fail on my 2008 GS within 2 weeks of ownership. :-) I haven't fixed it and probably won't bother. Just use the trip meter. Hope your throttle problem is easily resolved.

It has been said in here that the fuel pump works harder when the low fuel light is flashing, whether this is true I don't know,
According to the person who quoted this it can cause premature failure of the fuel pump.
I've had 10 fuel strips in the 12 years and 110.000 miles I've had my GSA, and only replaced the fuel pump at 107.000 miles so it didn't affect mine too much.
