Never known any of my 17 bikes not to rust somewhere on some part.
However, a friend with an 07 complained about the bolts holding his carrier on rusting and had a load of stuff replaced under warranty.
I used to do shed loads of warranty claims for corrosion on bikes up to about 2005 then BM started to tighten up blaming it on our close proximity to the sea.
Get used to it, and put a bit of elbow grease into keeping it lookin good.
Get a better price when you trade in for the next one if you look after it.
