Apologies if I am not using the correct terminology but the coiled part of the rear suspension (is that the shock absorber or just the spring?) is rusty on my GS1200.
Although it still works well it lets the looks of the bike down so I want to replace it.
Can I just replace that part without replacing the whole unit?
I am also a short arse so can I get a shorter spring to make the bike a bit lower?
Recommendations on parts would be great.
Thanks.

Hyperpro and k tech make replacement springs, not only shorter in length but also suitable for your weight too.

You'll need to replace front/rear at same time or your bike will be a lethal machine.

Also budget for an overhaul of shocks, best improvement you will make to your bike.

Talk to member Denz0 on here.

He can refurbish your shock and fit a new spring at a very reasonable price. And while he's doing it he can add shims to the internals to reduce the height.Which is a better way to do it than fitting a shorter spring.
