the spring on the front shock of my gs1200 (06) appears to be rubbing on the barrel of the shock. its not leaking any oil or making strange noises.
anyone else noticed this, wonder whether its time for a rebuild?

That can't be good, it is all tight, no broken spring ?? Does anything move when you give it a good tug ? ( Did I really say that !)

There is a set of aftermarket shocks for sale on here. Get it and you won't look back.

doesn't look that unusual to me. usually happens because the spring doesn't compress straight and bows inwards towards the shock body.

of course it could be fooked, but i'd have thought it would have dumped it's oil if that was the case :nenau

Looks like time for a rebuild. Spend £100 now to avoid a lot more later. But its a great excuse if you want some Wilbers.

Thanks for the reply's, Just ordered shock from Motoworks (Hagon) just about within my budget, decided against rebuild think the spring may be weak.

Got Hagons front and rear on mine, they've done about 25000 miles now, and still feel good. You won't regret your choice. They also offer good aftersales service, my mates very high mileage rear Hagon sprung (excuse the pun) a leak the day before a France trip, he called them, they said call in to the factory on the way to the ferry and fixed it while he waited.

Got the shock in place how do you get a spanner on the flats on the top of the shock to tighten the nut. scratching my head on this on may need to make a spanner.
help !!!

Wedge it with a suitable screwdriver or use half height nuts to lock the spindle.
