Lovely bike, but too uncomfortable for me when I sat on it at the bike show

I ride two-up all the time nowadays and I have no self restraint on sportsbikes, which is why I swapped my K1200S for a GS recently, but I may add a used GSX-R750 to the collection in a year or two

The speed and cornering ability of a sportsbike are amazing compared to a GS, so you can't really compare the two as they're completely different riding experiences.

Don't know what the fuss is about people spending their hardearned - if someone had a new £25k Golf GTi no-one would say a thing, so what's the problem with someone having two bikes adding up to the same value?

Hardly any of us need a new bike - my company car is my everyday transport nowadays - but it sure feels good if you can afford it

mmmmm have to agree. im not rich, sold two bikes to be able to afford the s1000.i have a knackered race suit and dirty alpinestars,that said i do masturbate often.there's no pockets in shrouds!!!

Hazzy....I reckon that you bought that beauty for all the right reasons....In other words, you wanted it, and you could afford it.....end of...

IMHO....The S1000RR is not just another sports 'bike, and I don't think that the glowing write ups, are just crawling up BMW's jacksy. This 'bike has moved everything on, just like the 'Fireblade' did.

It's just a fantasic bit of kit......especially in those colours.....You are a very lucky man.....Please let us know how you get on with it.....

guys guys guys, im not assuming or trying to prove otherwise, that what, who or how you ride.
i said i care less what it is you own, as its none of my business, i also feel that what i would have in my garage would cause some to turn up their nose.
yes i also know most r90s bikes are cuddled up in garages
its the fact that some (not all) buy into the badge as if its the be all and end all, then after short ownership of failed mechanics or failed electrics, poor finnishings dealer service con, ect ect.
but its not my concern, you do what you want, ride it naked if you like.

enjoy your ride

and i shall continue to enjoy what i have and ride, just dont expect me to be impressed by the bikes your buying.

So what, if someone "buys into the badge". Ask an H-D owner. Ask my sister why she bought a Virago. Ask the guy who rides a Rat Bike.
I doubt if anyone wants you to be impressed by their choice of bike, but they probably do take offence at your negative attitude and comments to their preferences and their opportunity to share their enjoyment on this forum with like-minded enthusiasts.

Putting someone or something down in any way never does anyone any credit.

Well, its all spend spend spend these days, look how much money I have and desperate to show it off to others - usually the least well-off + unemployed, makes them feel good & impress their wags, what a fellow I am.

People arent satisfied with just one bike these days, they want two, both the most expensive to lord it out to everyone their success (usually gained by conning + cheating others).

I sat on one today at Vines...ouch, bloody uncomfortable for me, which is a shame as i really wanted to be able to have one...and such good value for the base model.. i will still test one on Tues, well, at least for 5 miles until my back, neck and forearms can take no more!!!

Interesting, I have an 1150GS and an Aprilia RSV1000R. Now the Ape's acceleration is awesome and puts the GS well and truly in the shade. But the GS' cornering speed gives the Ape a run for her money and you have to go to 'brave mode' to start noticing the difference. You also need dry conditions and good tarmac. The front suspension and roadholding of a GS is much underated in my opinion.

Test rode the S1000RR yesterday at South London BMW/Vines on mainly dry roads. Great bike, 10-15% better than my Fireblade in power and braking, turn in was sharp, and i found it very comfortable. Did approx 100 yards before swapping from rain mode to race mode, i doubt you would want to use any other setting.
I was also at the bike show at the Excel in the morning, I think comparing the S1000RR versus the Aprilia factory, the BMW seems to offer better value for money.
Rode the new GS and GSA too.
Test rode the burgers too.
