S1000XR

Interesting that the r doesn't have the tingles, I wonder why that is?

Still an awesome bike IMHO.

Without a doubt.:thumb But, considering it would cost around £4k to swap my R for one, as great as it is, it ain't £4k better.

When I picked up my new GS from the 600 mile service there was a guy picking up his new XR. it looked the nuts, racy red with colour coded panniers. I don't think anyone should knock anyone for their choice, it's a personal thing. My choice is a GS, I like the torque, the balance and the comfort. I couldn't give a large turd what other people think and I will bet that most peeps don't care what I think. There's one thing having brand snobbery/ preference but taking it to model snobbery is nobbery

Has it ever occured to you, that different people have different priorities in the choice of a bike? So two "Dealer principals" have said "not the bike for you, sir" and just because that carries weight with you - you assume that it appliest to 2WH? :blast

I don't think anyone is looking for an R1200GSA "replacement" - just something a bit different, which will be more enjoyable for the types of roads they regularly travel?

Al

Having spent 2 hours on one today I can say it is a very silly motorcycle !!

I have ordered one obviously:D:D:D:D

What colour ?

I was smitten by the time I negotiated the first roundabout ! Christ what a bike it is the power delivery is sooooooooooooooo

:D:D:D

Congrats, get a spare license now, you may be needing it Mr Smith ;)

Sat nav mount

Anyone got a locking Nav V mount fitted?
I was told it was not an option by a main dealer,it won't fit:nenau

Been sniffing round one, what a beautiful looking motorcycle :thumb

As elsewhere, I'm glad I'm off the merrygoround or I would be having one for sure. I don't need to take a test drive to know it's a winner :D

Strewth ... what a motorcycle :drool

:beerjug:

No surprise that folk are loving it but having owned a fair few gsxr1000s it really didn't float my boat. I'd had enough after half an hour. It does handle n go well but I was happy to get back on my GS. I fizzed past a drab blue 3 series at 130 still going like the clappers n then thought crap was that an unmarked car:eek:....that would be a regular event if I owned one. A four cyclinder engine seems to want you to thrash it. Plus those vibes esp at 5k revs on the one I tried were very bad compared to a low rumbling boxer twin...it would be hard work doing a big tour.

For ride and handling they have got it spot on. Most of my riding is commuting and touring n the GS is so good for both n the better bet as far as I'm concerned.

Maybe it's time for the pipe n slippers after all! If you've got one, you're in for a wild time that's for sure.

I was also told the locking mount won't fit, not enough room. But I would like to know if it does either that or maybe Cymarc can come up with something ?
There has got to be a way of locking it on its the only thing I've raised about the bike, it's going to be a chor having to keep removing the bloody thing.

Terry it does fit, the issue you have and the reason they say it cannot be fitted is because as you say there's not enough room to get the key out the locking mech, the bods on the XR forum whom have purchased the locking mount allow it to rotate on the bar by not over tightening the Allen bolts (so needs slight force to rotate) and so allows you to remove key.

On the accessories page for the XR, it mentions a locking mount (factory fitted), but the mount from the factory isn't lockable.:blast

I'll see what that's all about when I speak to my dealer this morning.
