Been searching for safety camera software to download on to my 2720. I've been to the Garmin website but the download page isn't working.
I've searched via Google for any websites but I'm concerned about downloading stuff into the unit if it isn't from a known trusted source.
Anyone able to offer any advise please?
Thanks
Steve

we should stop calling them "safety cameras". plays right into those cnuts hands.

There's nothing 'safety' about them, you spend all your time looking at your speedo, or looking for the darn camera's, instead of looking at the road.

Revenue Generation Cameras is a better moniker

Unless they've radically improved it, any speed camera database is better than Garmins, it was a complete and utter pile of crap in comparison to Tom Tom and Road Angel.

Thanks guys, all sorted now.

Can someone who has this installed please explain how it works?

Does the installation provide anything other than a location marker on the SatNav?

Does it give any visible or audible warning that the user is approaching a camera site (apart from a map symbol)?

If not, when away from your local area (where presumably you are aware of the camera sites), does this mean that you have to keep looking at the map to spot upcoming camera sites?

If the latter is the case, is this any more reliable than spotting the big yellow box on a pole?

Having used it for the first time yesterday I can tell you that it displays a red horizontal information bar at the top of the screen stating that there is a speed camera ahead, I think mine gives this warning 0.5 mile prior to the camera site. It also includes a visual display of the relevant speed limit.

In addition to the visual warning it also give an audible tone, which increases in pitch if you're not within the posted speed limit.

If you press the red warning bar on the screen it also audibly and visualy supplies you with information on the type of camera and it's serial or reference number.

It seems like an excellent piece of software and having used it on roads that I wasn't familiar with yesterday I can confirm that it's a very useful tool. All the above is relevant to 2720.

I shall stick to the Mark One Eyeball method then.

That's the method I use now. I had the camera overlay on my 2610, but unless you kept your eye on the screen all the time it was pretty useless. It was OK in the car if my co-pilot was with me - gave him something to do :D
