The rear tyre on my R1100GS is starting to foul the little mudflap that covers the shock. I'm not sure if its the mudflaps fault or a sign that the rear spring is weak.

Also could this be a sign that the shock is about to fail. The tensioner is set to hardest setting.

Many thanks

Clint

Looking at it from this end of the internet it's hard to tell. Take the pannier off and i'll be able to have a better look.

Just change it

If your bike has done more than say 30,000 miles and particularly if some / a lot of it has been done 2 up or heavily laden then I can almost guarantee that you will benefit from changing the rear shock especially as your bike must also be nearly 10 yrs old or more.

You will be amazed at the difference............I was.:thumb2

I've jus put a recon shock on the back of my 1100, the previous one had done about 70K miles. Anyone who says the stock shock is knackered at 20k should try it at 70K !! Perfectly servicable but not brilliant.

My flap has never fouled the tyre or shock. No idea I'm afraid. Is it still attached at all the connection points?
