I had a spare minute and rang them, I got through to Mark and asked the question "Why was that price so high"
he said it was the hourly rates being dictated by their bosses, and that anyone currently working in Kearys had no say in the
prices charged back then and he said the hourly rates had dropped a lot since.

Just to correct my earlier post, the text I got a few weeks ago said they'd supply and fit a new set of Dunlops for €280 not €200.

Victory Tyres in Limerick charge €10 per tyre, and will take your old tyres for disposal for another €2. You need to take off and replace the wheels and he can only balance the front.

A tale of woe part two...

So there I was thinking I had a out put shaft gone in the 1200 GS ... I was considing giving the job to a independent spanner swinger as the bike was a year out warrenty... So quotes were got and I was about to organise the transporting of the bike ...Next thing I get a bell from Kearys saying they had heard about my situation and perhaps they could help.. After having a chat with Adrain I decide to ship the bike up to Kearys ...The breakdown cover with Quinn made this a simple task... I get a call from Jimmy saying that in fact the splines on the rear end of the final drive had failed which in turn had caused the splines on the final drive to fail ... A new drive shaft and final drive was required... A good will request was sent up the line to BMW on my behalf by Adrain ... The outcome of this was that the cost of the drive shaft and half the cost of the final drive would be met by BMW and half the cost of the final drive and labour to be met by me... I think this was a fair offer and I agreed... Two days later I collect my bike with a shiny new final drive complete with drain plug ...


I found the service and attitude of the Kearys staff was excellent ... I felt that they really wanted to help me get the bike back on the road ... I was impressed considering I was out of warrenty ... I remember life with out a BM dealer in town and hope that Kearys remain in Cork .


I remain dissapointed with the product and am not sure if/when the times comes to change the GS that its replacement will have a spinning propeller on its tank or a shaft drive on its back wheel ...

i was told extened waranty does no cover roten parts !!!!!!!!!!!!!

So it will be the only manufactuer in this planet to let me dive completly coroded wheels

They charged 90euro for the front tyre and 70euro for rear tyre! Thats just to change it. Would have replied sooner but was away. Funny thing is that I thought when I was away that it was about 160euro but thought to myself naaah thats way too much i better get my facts right. Well the invoice sits in front of me now and thats exactly what it says. Those prices are subject to VAT also. Now that is daylight robbery.

Don't ye read the posts before ye jump in with opinions based on out dated facts!

A set of tyres for a GS from Kearys would be approx €280 - €300 depending on what type. This includes balancing!

So please stop perpetuating this crap and get a price before you get indignant.

What are you talking about? What difference does it make if i get a quote or not. Fact is, dogfooddave was charged €160 for a set of tyres fitted, not inlcuding vat! Are you somehow trying to justify that? As for "out of date", when was it acceptable to charge that money to fit two tyres? Was it OK 3 monts ago when the post was made?
And up the north they charge under €200 for a set of tourances supplied and fitted, so even your €300 place isn't great. Don't even try and pretend we're getting good value from BMW dealers down here. They charge around double what ducati dublin charge per hour and they're considered expensive!

When i first moved here I wasn't too enthused about Keary's and posted to that effect, so I'd like to give an update, because while i haven't had any work done there. I have bought a bunch of parts over the past few months and the fellow working the store has been more than great.

So at this point, I'd give a big for the customer service at Keary's.

I'm happy to be their customer.

currently dealing with them on a corrosion issue..

always found them helpful, and would go out of their way for you especially Adrian.. I would give them 9/10.. with bmw stealing the last point cause they are a load of w@nkers

as for the sales guy Mark.. dont get me started on that... what that lad is doing dealing with people I just dont know.. he has no manners or people skills AT ALL.... but now he is gone..

I feel i must jump in here to defend Mark. I've known and dealt with Mark for over 20 years now, from when he ran the superbike centre and more recently when i bought my 1100GS from him personally, not through Keary's. He may not be the most user freindly type of salesman if your a tyre kicker/time waster, but if your up for a deal with no bullsteining, Mark will deal with ya.
You need to take him as you find him and HTFU a small bit.

Oh and Mark leave's and rejoins Keary's with monotonous regularity. I heard he tried to do some guy a favour and it blew back on him. No good deed goes unpunished as they say.

well I can tell you I was no tyre kicker or time waster, if you can see from my text I bought a 08 gsa..

I asked for a bike to be valued for trade in, and he was unprofessional and rude... and I have dealt with a lot of bike shops and that is no way to deal with customers.. if I did that in my job I would be out on my ass..

I will just have to enjoy the time he is gone so......

I have a problem with the remarks about Marks character on a public forum, I know a lot of people
who have dealt with Mark and think he a very nice guy and who would say he's polite and fair to
deal with.
