I've said this before as well. Normally when there's salt on the road it's cold. Often below freezing. How do you hose down a bike when the hose is frozen solid. Or if you use warm water from the house you end up with a skating rink where you do the deed

I suppose it depends if you're regularly riding / commuting or leisure riding at the weekend. Personally (I hear JB ... ) I'd still chuck a bucket of water over it to get the worst of the salt off ...

Absolutely GS's are totally unaffected by salt

JB must have because I couldn't leave any make of bike that I rode all winter without some protective coating and not expect corrosion.

Mine's on its seventh winter - never been in a garage - never had a bucket of water chucked on it - and its still getting me to work and back every day.

Me? I'd rather be inside having a nice cuppa

coat in acf50 in the autumn and leave until the spring wash off and recoat then repeat in the autumn

Use a couple of watering cans full of water, taken from your water butts that gather water from your gutters....

Only use cold water when washing off salt. Warm/hot water makes salt attack more agressive.

SDoc 100 Power Gel - expensive but works a treat on getting ACF50 off. I dilute it 4:1 and just leave it a little longer to do its magic
