Wanted Samsung Galaxy Edge please

I know nothing of Samsung being an apple user but I'm trying to help a hard up pal who has a very old phone, circa 2017 which is knackered and doesn't even feature Wi-Fi calling which is a must around us.
So I'm looking to get them a minty later phone and as I trust the guys on this site I thought I'd try here first. So anything you have coming up or available then please let me know by PM
You might have to give me a clue on what model / age and battery life etc

I always use a Samsung, got an S21 at present, the S range are the higher spec models, I use a company called Black market when my wife or I want to upgrade, they sell used phones with a guarantee at very reasonable prices with a choice of grades for the condition of the phones. Lots of choice and they sell older models not just the latest models.

Every phone will have a camera, front & back facing and come with certain apps already on it some can be removed but not all, never used a pencil with a phone, my S21 is 4 yrs old, I use it as a phone, text/whatsapp, emails gps/maps on my bike / car etc, if you just want phone text etc just remove the apps and don’t set up emails, the only type of phone that does just phone & text are the ones like I bought my 96 year old dad with huge buttons and 5 preprogrammed numbers!!

Samsung S24, still has 6 years of updates left and is a great all round phone.
Here new so sometimes cheaper than a used one...

Tell him to go online....and buy a Poco F7 Ultra

You will not find better "bang for buck" anywhere in the smartphone universe.


Only one single downside.....it doesn't support "e-sim"........if that is not important to him, he could do a lot worse with his hard earned.

Okay, thanks for your answer. The person that’s going to be using this phone will use the camera but what I am saying is they don’t need professional standards and use a phone mainly as a telephone, for messaging, email and the Internet. They don’t bother with online banking apps And I don’t even think they bother with basic apps like Weather etc. I think I need to find out which is the basic Samsung edge and get one of those.

Brilliant suggestion thank you but I think cost may be prohibited. So far it looks like a used one hopefully around the £200 mark so really the best phone I can get for that sort of money. So maybe the Samsung A56 128gb.

Have a look at Motorola.....
Great value....and probably the best at being "a phone"

It's the title that was throwing me off...
"Samsung Edge" is a very recent release and is High End...price wise.


As in my previous post...... Motorola are really good value phones.

So when I was told that current old phone was an edge, they have probably got the description wrong. I think their phone we have now aged at 2018

No..... I just don't think they have had an "edge" version in quite a few years.

So 2018 is probably correct.......they have made a big hullabaloo about the return of the "edge"

LOL, definitely out of my price bracket. I’ve been an Apple user from my ex blackberry and Window‘s phone. I only really understand Apple technology. This person is a bit of a low date and has got used to the Samsung so my question really is are they better off staying with Samsung as it’s a familiar layout or would they get on with a Motorola or a different brand? I suppose I’m asking are android phones is so different

If they are not very tech savvy.....probably best to stick to what they know.....so maybe pick a Samsung from the lower tier of the range.


What is a big plus for Motorola phones is that there software "skin" is probably the closest to Stock android (outside of buying a Google pixel).....so it will be very easy to find their way around.

Now got an S25, as the deal with Samsung was so good in March this year

Galaxy A series are a good phone and current
Samsung site does do some good deals at times
Probably Xmas, Black Friday and such or when a new model is coming out and pre order like I did
