I plan to be in be San Sebastian 10th - 12th October. Can anyone recommend accommodation there based on experience?

Hi, can´t talk about experience, I live in San Sebastián! But use to see bikers in Ametzagaña (http://www.ametzagana.com), it have good communication with main roads. Other that is more near the city and with good price is Monte Ulía (http://www.hotelmonteulia.com). Both use to have good prices in a expensive city.
Anyway, if you have any other option just ask me, so I can tell you pros and cons.

Not terribly useful but I would just like to say, if you've never been to San Sebastián it is a Great City, IMO probably the best Tapas and Pintxo venues in Spain, fine Seafood Restaurants on the Harbour; literally from boat to plate.
I usually stay in Honadarribia, where you can take the Ferry across the Estuary to France, Hendaye, where I've stayed also, a Chic Marina with small Hotels literally on the Beach.

Try the Monte Ulia.
Outside the old town, but with bus stop at the door and 5 minutes into town.
They have a good car park as well.

Just stayed there 2 nights at a place we found on Airbnb, at the eastern end of Zurriola beach. Lovely family / good location but parking out in the street a bit restricted and shared loo opening onto the living room / kitchen not to her nibs taste!
If you go the Airbnb route, watch out for the service charges, they take around 10% on top off you plus any cleaning charge which the owner shows on their page.

Stayed a night at the Hotel Avenida on Thursday last. OK hotel; excellent nosebag next door.
