Hello all! (only my 2nd post) I am picking up my new 1200GS from Bahnstormer in Alton in about a week. I am about to order some additional stuff from NN including some Sargent seats, and have been trying to find some posts about the heated option without much success - ie is it worth having etc  - it adds £218 to the cost, so not a cheap addition. Any feedback would be most welcome :thumb

While I've read numerous reports on Sargent seats (and as a recent covert started to contribute to :augie) I can't recall ever seeing a comment from an owner with the heated option and maybe that in itself is an indication of just how much of a benefit they would be :nenau

Personally I can't see the point in having them heated but then again I've never had heated seats on a bike before although I did have a Volvo once with them fitted and personally hated the things as it felt really "peculiar".

Before shelling out the additional £218 I'd recommend thinking seriously on when you would actually use the facility.

Welcome to the collective BTW. :thumb

Never heard of heated seats on a bike, but I did have them on a Saab (must be a Scandinavian thing!). Unlike Thunder, I loved this option as they warmed up straight away even before the heater kicked in. I also love the heated grips on the GS (never had them before) and would be tempted by a heated seat option.

Enjoyed by Elephant Rallyists & our Canadian & Alaskan friends...No real need in these "so called" warmer climes, unless you intend to do some serious cold weather riding...:nenau

Thanks all - I think I'll spend the money on some other things instead.....auxilliary lights or something:)

IMPO a wise move, of course auxiliary lighting will only be the start of things :augie

I had heated seats on an r1200rt.
Best extra i ever had. Especially in the cold weather

I guess we are all different, I had heated seats on my R1200RT and IMHO I didn't think they were worth the money. I think spending the same money on heated clothing for rider and pillion is money much better spent.

I have a heated Corbin on my ST1300 at the moment. Its has two settings, nice and warm, and very toasty.
I'm very impressed with mine.

Sticking on my :rob hat for a moment, aren't there long term health implications related to sitting on a heater for any length of time, piles/vericose veins etc?

Or is that just an old wives tale :nenau
