I was getting a numb bum on the BMW low seat on long rides! After a lot of research I bought a Sargent low seat for my R1200GS.

Having tried the new seat on a long ride, I am extremely disappointed. My bum is no longer numb but there is a ridge on each side of the seat at the front which is pushing into the top of my legs. It is very uncomfortable.

Is this something that goes away with use, are they all like this or do I have a faulty seat?

I've done thousands of miles on the low Sarg seat, it's sooo comfortable. Have you tried altering height at front?

I found its better if front is high and back low!!!:ronno

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll give it a try.

If you run your hand over the seat, staring at the front (on either side) and move your hand to the middle of the seat (where your bum would go), can you feel a 'ridge' of padding just in front of where your bum goes?

Not on mine...so you could have a "Friday Afternoon Seat!" If you got it from Nippys they will swop it!!!:beerjug:

yeah, I'd try and get it replaced. I did a 13k trip in 40 days riding on a Sargent and found it extremely comfortable.

Had the sme problem with new low sargent seat.
Ended up getting a seat trimmer to take seat apart, trim off ridge, and put back together. Now perfect!!! :thumb

Same problem

it was cutting off the blood supply to my feel and making them numb. Problem went away after a few k.

Good grief!! You shouldn't have to do that to a new seat.

I called Sargent.

They tell me all seats are made the same way as they come out of the same mold. The ridge wont go away with wear - it is there to support the rider.

I need longer legs.....
