Date TBC!!!

Open to all, but those with proper trail bikes please be aware it will be a gentle plod for those new to the lanes and those on less agile bikes, on easier lanes.

Meet @ ? ready for a 10:00 start.
Please fill up* before hand.
(*= You might want to consider just how full you need to be if you own a bike with a large tank. It all adds to the weight you have to balance/pick up when you don't. I use less than one 8l tank on the 450 doing this route)

I plan to pretty much stick to the normal marker system, so please take a look here:
http://www.visordown.com/forum/forum...=12806&V=2&SP=
Also PLEASE take a look at http://www.trf.org.uk/download.php?FILE=102 and note the TRF code of conduct.

I can't really tell you too much about the route/distance etc, as I plan to cuff it, according to how well people are doing.
What I can tell you is, the trail is generally well graded and all weather suitable.
There WILL however be the odd slippery/sandy/muddy patch, but if everyone looks out for each other they won't present anything more than a "challenge" to your mind. They aren't difficult and unless you get it WAY wrong and end up in the trees, shouldn't be at all bike damaging if you do get it wrong.
That said, if people are finding it too easy, I can alter to suit.
Suck it and see as they say.

Above all, the day is yours to enjoy, but please, not at the expense of other countryside users.

Is that the Countess Services on the A303 ?

Err...dunno. :(

I'm only posting the info as his account got deleted. I'll give him a jab with a pointy stick and tell him to re-register. (I'm not sure if I'll be able to join either ride yet. Hopefully will be on the Wiltshire one).

Im sure yuoll find that "Amesbury svs" and "Countess" are one and the same place ,,A303 on the roundabout
Thanks, but I know.
I lived in Bulford for 5 years.

The point was I am doing a recce tomorrow and may chose somewhere else other than the services to meet.

Such as whatever has been built just here:
http://www.multimap.com/maps/?hloc=...mesbury, Salisbury, Wiltshire, England, SP4 7
Which from a distance looked like another lot of services or a retail park.
If it is services there will be better.

Just in case anyone is in two minds over this, we went and did a recce on friday and I took some pics of a few of the tracks:

The tracks are mainly simple gravel/shale surfaces, and on the muddier patches there is mostly a thin layer of mud over a rock base, making it grip very well.
There is the occasional DEEP puddle in the bottom of valleys, but all that we passed can be avoided by trundling through the grass to the side.
The only other problem I foresee is a couple of stretches of chalky track, which could be a tad slippery if wet. Again, as they are short, they can be avoided if necessary.
Most of the ruts we came across were quite wide, due to lots of different types of vehicles (with different axle widths) using the tracks and also not very deep (3-4") as the under laying stones stops the track eroding too much.
That made them very easy to negotiate.
The ones in the above pic were quite possibly the worst of the day, as they were quite narrow, but even them, if you take your time, and walk the bike (whilst sat on it) if need be, they wont be an issue.

If this is run is truly open to rank amateurs (off road to me is putting the 'bike in the garage) may I join you? If yes, where is the meet on Solstice Park, that is a large area?

It is, or I would not have advertised it as such. :)
I THOUGHT I had somewhat over emphasised that fact throughout the thread.:nenau

I will even offer some very basic tuition to the true novices. Can't say fairer than that. :)

Where the large(hopefully) gaggle of bikes is. ;)

Its not THAT large an area and the car parks for the hotel, pizza hut harvester and KFC are all within sight of each other, the approach road and the service station.

Whoever gets there first, find a space a bagsy it for us.;)

Ok, ok. You will recognise me as I shall be the rider with the pointy hat and a "D" emblazoned on it!

Hiya, should be along with Motorhead & a few others, maybe 4 - 6 of us if thats OK?
Yep that is fine chap.
Ordinarily I limit numbers to 6-8 max, but as there shouldn't be anyone tear arsing around on this and the plain is BIG place so a big convoy won't upset too many people.
Especially if I get busy with the matt green paint before we leave the meet point.;)
