I have a BMW SatNav IV on my GSA, recently it has struggled with satellite lock. Sometimes it looses lock and takes ages to re-lock, often when it does I get a warning that there is low satellite signal. I am using it a lot at the moment delivering medicines and blood and this is a real pain! Any ideas how I can fix this?

Not sure if you can do a factory reboot, if you can do that and see if that helps

if not, it may be time to buy a newer one :(

Perform A Master Reset on a BMW Motorrad Navigator IV

Note: A master reset will erase your saved information and restore the device to the default factory settings. This will include all saved locations, trips, and tracks. Any loaded custom points of interest will remain intact on the device. You can back up your saved information to your computer. See Backing up, Restoring, or Transferring Saved Data on Garmin Automotive Devices for instructions.

To perform a master reset on a BMW Motorrad Navigator IV device:

Start with the device off and unplugged from power
Touch and hold the lower right-hand corner of the display portion of the touchscreen
Power on the device while continuing to hold the display
Remove your finger when the screen displays "Do you really want to erase all user data"
Touch Yes

The device will automatically reset. Follow the on-screen prompts to set your locale and then place your device in an area with a clear view of the sky until it acquires satellites.

a 4 must be pretty old, when did u last try to update it.....

a year ago the satellites rolled over a 19 year date and restarted counting with 2019 as 0 many devices became strange as a result... this should not stop it working but won't help the device be happy with life

on lots of car's / tomtom's / garmin's that came on stream midway through this 19 years cycle no one thought what would happen at the change. My clock was broken for 18 months on the car, an American chap hacked a software update disc rewrote the code and gave it away free because Mercedes couldn't be bothered.

For the BMW Motorrad NAV IV - update the device software by following the steps in Updating Automotive Maps and Software with Garmin Express to correct the issue.

wait long enough and this page confirms the clock bug and that they offered a fix. (another post suggests they may have lost the plot and a reset and 12 hour in the sun might rebuild data !)

Thanks chaps. Trusty old IV reset, time seems to be OK but not bothered about this anyway. It seems to work well enough in the garden, will see what its like when I use it next.

an article said something did cause it to lose the plot. he didn't use the name WNRO but I think that what he meant…. and said this does cause it to lose sat lock
the firmware fix I think would be offered without needing to update the maps... so u ought to do it
