1200GS. BMW Dealer fitted (BMW) Sat Nav.

it's supposed to power down soon after you trun the ignition off - it has always done this till this morning when a BMW dealer replaced my (bent) brake peddal...

Sat Nav now stays on (certainly for 5 minutes - i have not left it longer) after the ignition is turned off. am waiting to hear back from dealer...

anyone had the same problem? thanks.

My guess would be that when your bike was at the dealers they updated some of the control software. The new software may well leave the accessory circuit powered for a bit longer. The time that the circuit is powered for on my bike seems a bit random :)

While the circuit is powered, the hazard warning switch will be illuminated.

Is it really a problem? The Sat Nav has its own power switch doesn't it?

I fitted a front auxilliary socket to mine, and a set of flood lights at the same time i took the feed for the switch/relay from the socket, when the relay is powered the socket dosn't switch off at all, 06 build with no software updates since delivery.

Shep :bounce1

Perhaps then, with the new software (which was late '05 I think), the socket won't power down while there is a load. Which seems relatively sensible. I'll have to test mine once I clean the mud out of the socket :D

Must be pretty sensitive as the relay can't be pulling much.

I guess the smartarse answer is to say switch it off, but that wouldn't help you much would it???:)

Sounds as though the dealer has "helped you" by doing the latest software update :)

I would kill the dealer if he tried to "help" me. I have an early -04 that allow me to switch on/off ABS while driving. Newer software releases will not. My bike will never, ever, get closer to a BMW workshop than 10 Km. :nono
