Hello all, just been to my dealer and asked about fitting autocom to the new gsa as I have it on my f800gs with a garmin 660 and cobra radios and like the set up. And they said no but will look into it tomorrow.

Other than that it's a case of changing to the navigation V and changing to a bluetooth. But what about radios to talk to the misses on her bike?

Well that's what l wanna just that my dealer has said that it's not recommended to fit autocom, and I'm not fussed about the wheelie thing anyway.

When l sell my f800gs trophy l want to removed it all and fit my 660 with new autocom to the new gs and l will fit my old autocom to my misses g650gs that she got this weekend.

But first things first my gs has to go

You won't need a radio to talk to your wife if you use a decent BT headset such as Sena to connect Nav V , smartphone, pillion and other riders

Dave l will find out tomorrow when l go in.

The only reason why l haven't gone for BT is the range with my misses on her bike l could be so far infront one or two miles sometimes that it wouldn't work

You can have both. Use a bluetooth unit with the autocom and then just a normal Bike to bike set up again through autocom simple but pricy :D

Part of the reason BMW don't recommend autocom is they are pushing there own very expensive Bluetooth , it was not so long ago that BMW actively promoted autocom as their intercom of chose.

I asked about for a future K1600 purchase no sir has to be Bluetooth 10 mins on net all worked out how to fit autocom, or if you can't do it yourself plenty of places can and will probably cheaper than BMW dealership will.

One of the real reasons is that bods (many of whom inhabit these pages) like the convenience of BlueTooth, for talking on the phone or having Ramstein at 11 on the dial as they hoon their awesome steeds. No wires, leads, faffing about, wondering where to put it, external aerials and all the added confusion that Canbus powering brings.

'Plug and play' is what they want.... As highlighted in another thread only yesterday.

I fully intend fitting my Autocom and Kenwood onto my GSA when it arrives. Its not difficult and I suspect that the only reason the dealer is reluctant is that he is pushing the new BT kit.

My plan is to fit a relay next to the little fuse box under the riders seat triggered by the ignition-switched live from the fusebox. The live from the relay plus an earth - probably from the same relay will run back to the compartment under the pillion seat where I will fit the Autocom. I have done the same thing on my last 4 bikes an fit works fine very time. There really is a lot of bollox talked about Canbus - its not rocket science. My Kenwood will probably be fitted under the rear rack once the Givi adaptor plate goes on - it has worked fine there on my current GS for the last 3 years.

I am pretty certain that the Zumo 660 mount will directly replace the BMW badged element of the Nav5 mount that comes with the bike. This will allow you to use the same Zumo 660 wiring for your Autocom. If it won't directly replace then take the Nav 5 mount off, fit the Zumo 660 mount and plug it into the power socket provided for the Nav 5 - you may need the adaptor wire from NN if you don't have it already.

You really don't need to get your dealer to do it for you - 1 soldered splice for the trigger wire and the rest is just knitting! If that bothers you then buy a PosiTap connector - no soldering required!

Is the nav 5 not a completely different unit to the 660? The nav 4 was a 660.

Quite right BUT, if you look carefully, the actual bit of the Nav 5 mount that accommodates the Nav 5 is exactly the same as the Zumo 660 piece - I think they will swap and allow you to substitute the Nav 5 bit for the Zumo bit - take a look and you will see what I mean - its hard to explain.

However, it would just LOOK like a Nav 5 mount but accommodate and give the audio outputs of a Zumo mount - just as easy to get rid of the Nav 5 and bolt on the Zumo.

Well l didn't get chance to have a. Word to the dealer but have a f800gsa to play with for a few days :-)

At the moment l have the 660 wired straight to the battery terminals and the autocom wired via the white plug on top of the air box of my f800gs, is that the plug l will need to power my 660 on th lc gsa?

I will remove the navigation V mount and put my lockable Touratech 660 there and wire it the same way.as l have it at the moment

Yep! The plug you need will become obvious when you disconnect the Nav 5 bracket. This has 2 connections but you will see which one is the power - the other is a smaller connector to allow the wheel on the clutch grip to work. If your previous connection was direct to battery, you will need a connector (NN sells them at £15ish) to make use of the BMW provided power.

Autocom if audio hard wired from your sat nav is the way to go for volume and clarity.

I did try the bluetooth plug in for my Autocom but found the audio too quiet on the bluetooth connection(with plugs in on both):nenau

Hard wiring is a bit of effort initially but a better performance imo.......:thumb2

Completely agree but unfortunately, there is no choice but BT with the Nav 5.

I like to idea of the sena bluetooth, but at the moment I'm sticking with my original idea of 660 and wired autocom,

I've got cobra mt975 radio's does anyone use them and what do they think of them?
