I run outlook express at home and outlook at work.

If I want to save emails from work email folders to my home PC and emails from home as text (or whatever) files (ie in both cases without storing them IN outlook or outlook express), is there an easy way to do it ?

I realise I can forward the emails concerned to myself and open another (new) folder in outlook express, but I want to avoid clogging up outlook express at home, rather than clog it up more. I'd also prefer to send/save them in batches rather than send them individually.

Any suggestions / linkies ?

Does your work based Outlook not have a web option available so that you can read work emails while away for the office?
You can save individual emails complete with attachments and formatting as .msg files from Outlook by dragging the email to a folder or desktop , or File - Save As - .msg ( Outlook Message Type)

You use Outlook Express so you are using XP or earlier. As Outlook & Outlook Express are completely different programs OE cannot read emails saved in the .msg format from Outlook. If you don't want to store the emails in OE save the emails as straight text (no formatting, pictures, attachments) try this as a msg file viewer - MsgViewer . I don't know how good it is as I haven't had the need to ever use it.

Nice one, thanks - I'll have a look.

I'm not sure off the top of my head how to save them as straight text, but it doesn't sound too hard, so I'll give it a go when I've a spare half hour.

Thanks for replying - good karma to ya :thumb2
