Anyone tell me how you save a pic using the Mac. When you find a pic on the net with windows it was a quick 'right click' 'Save pic as' option.
This isn't available on Apple but what is the alternative? I've gone across the top toolbar but unable to find anything appropriate! I'm using Safari as a browser!

Also
Any suggestions on useful software to load? Is Irfanview available for the Mac as I used to find this great for resizing pics

Apple key on keyboard and mouse click

Set your mouse preferences to have a right click (secondary click) enabled... Then right click and fill your boots with the options to save. Or set the secondary click up on the trackpad prefs. If you want to stay old school, cmd (apple key on really old keyboards) - click is the normal way to get the alternate functions.

The delete key is cmd-backspace (To delete files etc).

HTH.

Had both and cannot agree with you Micky, OK so Windoze goes wrong from time to time, but google is yer friend and an answer is always available.

Mac is just to constrictive, they own your ass, especially if you get involved with ipod and itunes...

Only my opinion BTW, my PC had a problem earlier in the week, sorted with a bit of searching, ended up being the new version of Firefox and nowt to do with windoze, my last portable PC last me six years and I did not have to re-install windows once...

ianf - to get the alternate functions to deal with saving the image it's ctrl + click surely, rather than cmd + click.

(Or at least - it is on mine! :))

Thats will be with trackpad keypad on a laptop giving you effectively a right click? :thumb2

Yep ctl-click, sorry...

On a side note, the number of help desk calls in my house has dropped right off to nearly 0 since I binned pcs and went to mac.

...last night though, Mrs f's laptop dies. Swollen battery (through never being cycled), and burned out PSU on an original macbook. Quick trip to currys for a new psu, and it's running again without a battery.

Anyone got a spare white macbook battery they're hoarding and don't want?

Give this guy a call: Tony 07595 371705, he is a very good, independent apple service specialist and has a room full of new and used apple spares!

Since the OP got his answer, no reason not to knock this a bit off topic.

Just like a mac, in fact

Unlike windows, which is practically open source:augie

Had my MacPro for a similar period of time - cheapest computer i ever bought since ive never needed to upgrade it.
I don't think I ever reinstalled mac Os x, I rarely even switch the computer off.

Dunno why you think informal support isn't available for macs, I very rarely have a problem that isn't solver on the first page or google or on one of the numerous mac support forums.
