For one reason or another I am moving my servicing etc from a well known to this board essex dealer :( to SBW :nenau. However I cant see many posts about SBW. Anyone used them before? experiences? costs?
:nenau
Theyve quoted me £437 for my 24k mile service gs12 as its a biggy with all fluids / oils etc, and providing me with a pool bike too.

is this about right? :beerjug:

Have you tried putting Sawbridgeworth in the search box, that brings up quite a range of posts as it is the same place.

I gave up paying for servicing or MOT's at SBW years ago. I only live 10 minutes from them and i only go to Steptoe or Motorscot for my servicing now.

Reckon you would have a fair bit of change left over if you went to them for a 24k service.

The only bit i used to use on a regular basis at SBW was the parts dept, very good staff with great understanding of the bikes and associated parts. But since the staff seem to have changed upstairs, it has gone downhill compared to my previous experiences. My business goes elsewhere now after years of using them.

Regularly use SBW for servicing - great bunch - very accommodating and have always impressed by going the extra mile... Recommending work and sorting it out under warranty, short notice for sorting problems and service doesn't phase them...

Expensive though - but aren't most dealers ?

Agree about the parts department now Graham has gone though...

i too did the essex to herts move !!

I rate them, like everyone says not cheap, but they have always done a thorough and professional job on my bike(s). I don't feel ripped off and feel they keep me properly informed if there are any unexpected repairs etc.

The guys in parts have changed and I do miss Richard and Graham, but I recently bought a new system 6 and I thought the new lads tried hard and di a good job.

If ever I have any problems with SBW I find they don't mind being told about it and have always done their best to sort problems out.

I've used SBW in the past and not had any complaints about their work, or level of expertise......customer service is pretty good although they can sometimes come across as looking down on the customer.

At the end of the day, money talks and since finding out about the excellent work of Steve Grover @ Motoscot, I know where my bikes will be going for servicing work.

Get a estimate from Steve Grover @ motoscot, I think you'll be surprised by the difference. 01582 419812

I was going to buy a new gs 1200 adventure from them gave me a test ride and everything but Ian never came back to me with a trade in price on my bike. :nenau Had the feeling they didn't care to took my trade to woolastons in Northampton and get great service from them :clap even though it's a lot further to go.

Had my 24,000 mile service done by Steve - Motoscot, really nice bloke, give him a call. He's BMW trained and uses approved parts :thumb2

will do gang thanks, where is he based ? is that a Luton number??

He is based in Caddington

spoke to Steve today, gave me the quote, booked me in for a months time ( at my request) and although it'll cost me £20 in fuel to get to him, I'll save about £130 beer tokens

thankyou tossers :beerjug::bow

So what happened to the old parts lads?

The new staff struggled to get my basic order for fuel tank seals, suspension bolts with nuts put together correctly and took 3 visits in the end :blast

Anyone know?:nenau

Richard :nenau

Graham was working with Steve Grover immediately after he left SBW - but whether that was an interim or long term post ? :nenau

Richard branched out into a different career path, something he had wanted to do for some time, and Graeme decided to depart not long after. A shame as both were top geezers and knew their stuff.

Unfortunatly i won't be going there again, used to visit till 2 years ago.

The parts dept were good lads but the sales staff can be as welcoming as a fart in a space suit, they should learn to never judge a wallet by the trousers they're in :augie

I now do my own servicing and order the parts from motorworks etc, and if i ever need major work done ( no need in three years so far ) i'll be spending my reddies somewhere else..........costeptoeugh

All good as far as I'm concerned, bought a new bike from them last month, they done me a competitive deal and sorted out a few teething problems without question.
They even fitted an alarm at half price within the first week of ownership, my fault I didn't specify it from the outset, I got a bit worried about the local tea leafs casting an eye on my bike in the drive, explained to Dave, the salesman my concerns and they done me a very generous deal.
In my experience, that is a rare occurrence, a nice gesture, AFTER I had parted with my hard earned!
