Thats the set up I ve planned for my trip. Is anyone using a similar set up? Are you happy?

Basically I bought a scala rider on Fleebay, which Bluetooths to the iphone but not for music. Apparently one can only channel music through the FM radio the Scala comes with.
So I got an itrip FM transmitter to go with the iphone.

Tested it in my living room, it works fine. I wonder if it will be ok as you are travelling long distances.

What are the chances that the vacant frequency you ve identified and streamed through the radio, becomes occupied by a station as you move through the country? Do you have to keep looking for an vacant slot every 200km then?

Any experiences by similar set ups would be most welcome...

My Ipod is kept in my pocket and connects directly to the scala via the 3.5mm socket & cable. I have a remote on the handlebars to change tracks/adj vol. Seems to work fine for me.
I used to have music via bluetooth from my zumo, however the sound quality was poor.

My Scala does not have any cable jack inputs.... It seems I got a j@ck sh*te pony product...

You can upgrade it to one that has the 2.5mm stereo socket on the headset - about £40 from the scala euro website.

You might want to test out the music sound on the bike at motorway speed before you set off! Worth checking out the sound before a long trip, a number of people have expressed a dislike for the music sound at speed! Good Luck ! :augie

Is there any Scala Bluetooth headset that has a lead for a MP3 player?

Rob

thanks all. I set it up, with the FM transmitter as described. Works fine and outputs in stereo.

Speakers are a bit poor - perhaps the way I velcroed them, as my Shoei has a complete hollow bit where my ears are so nowhere really to put them - but I can still hear them at 70mph test with traffic on the A40 last night.

I may "patent" the helmet by sticking some foam in the hollow bit in order to raise the wall and bring the speaker closer... will see.

Anyway, a weak music solution is better than no music solution. 3k miles coming up next week will tell..

Yeh the latest, one with the built in radio has a lead for MP3 the radio isnt brilliant keeps wandering, but mp3 is okay, it will steam bluetooth as well.

Hello there, not sure whether we're talking about the same thing here but I use an A2DP transmitter plugged into my iPhone. This is paired with the scala headset. I use the tuned-in radio app, which gives absolute crystal clarity radio reception even at motorway speeds. I bought the A2DP transmitter for about 15 quid off eBay.

I went for the Starcom set up, no messing charging units when away and I would not use the radio as I would have just used my MP3. With phone conectivity and passenger having her own phone connected to the unit is a plus point. Great bit of kit, a lot more than the Scala but a better choice for me and my touring/commute.
