Scandanavia 2011

Looks like you had a great time :thumb2

We really want to go to Norway too! Can you share a few details of the trip - eg: It looks like you took the tunnel, then headed through Denmark and took the ferry from there, right? How long did the whole trip take and how many miles did you cover? And did you find the gravel tracks by exploring or had you got them mapped out prior to going?

PS: We use the same self heating meals when we went to Morocco - really great way to have meals on the go.

Hi Mav

Took the Chunnel, then rode across Belgium and Holland avoiding motorways, up to Ebjerg in Denmark, and then up the West coast. Ferry from Hirtshals to Kristiansand (Fjord Cat) which we got to drive!!

Up to Bygland and then Haukeli, across to Bergen up to Flam and then down to Lampeland onto Oslo and a boat across to Kiel, Nurburgring and home.

2 weeks and 300 miles. We found the gravel by explorong, we had no plan all trip, just took each day as it came.

Thanks for posting your vid, looks like you had fun.

How did it work out cost wise, was it mega expensive up through Norway?

Cheers

Norway is very expensive £10 a pint, 2 hotdogs and 2 coffees £25, you get the picture. Hotels extortionate, petrol similar to UK, a basic F800GS £18K (but you probably won't buy one of those there!!) Best advice is to eat and drink at Petrol stations

Great, thanks Lee - although I think you meant 3000 miles, not 300 ;) In all seriousness, 3000 in 2 weeks sounds like a pretty good number.

I'll take a look at the blog - thanks again :thumb2

Great to see such vigilance from a Mod :D

:) we didn't find the Hotels that bad when we went in 09, we stopped in Trondheim and paid £95 for a twin room. food tho is silly expensive as BB says, supermarket stuff isn't that far off but add in any service charge and it'll bring tears to your eyes!
we had a 2 pizza's and two cokes and it was over £65...:eek

as BB says the burgers/pastries/frankfurter things in the fuel stations are excellent and whilst not cheap they aint bad...
