Is there no 'Scandisk' facility in XP?

I used to run it periodically in Win98, but can't find it in WinXP.... or is it now called somefink else?

Double click My Computer
Right click on the disk you want to check
Select Properties from the right click menu
Click on the Tools tab
Select Error Checking.

I think you can also force it to run checkdisk when you reboot, which is always a good idea, but I forget how...

IIRC pc will reboot if you ask it to check C drive.

or

at command prompt type *chkdsk /r* pc will reboot, check + repair any damaged sectors.

edit: may need to put in the disc label. details here
